Pay Range

Compensation for this position is expected to range between $70,304.00 and $71,000.00 per hour, in alignment with what California Baptist University (CBU) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. The final rate may vary depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and prevailing market conditions. Position Summary Information

Summary

Under general supervision, assist in coaching duties for the sport assigned at California Baptist University. Assist with aspects of the cheer program that may include recruitment, practice organization, game day preparation and performance, training and/or strength training for athletic competition by performing the following duties. Assist with aspects of the spirit program that may include general spirit program operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Understand and agree to abide by the mission of CBU and the CBU Athletics Department.

2. Assist head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition using sound principles and judgment consistent with the philosophy of CBU Athletics.

3. Participates in various fundraising, marketing, and promotion activities.

4. Assist in coaching both competition and game day cheerleading.

5. Assist in organizing and coordinating game day plans with coaches, marketing, pep band director, game management and facilities staff.

6. Coordinate team travel for spirit programs.

7. Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the CBU Athletic program philosophy.

8. Display good sportsmanship in relationship with students, staff, officials and opponents as consistent with NCA policies regarding the principle of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.

9. Maintain up-to-date information of sport regulations, rule changes, CBU and NCA policies.

10. Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.

11. Assist in recruiting and following up with qualified student athletes by phone, e-mail or through on campus visits. Within the framework of CBU, NCA and NCAA policies, recruit prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.

12. Assist as directed with implementing and supervising athletic training, strength, and conditioning workouts; provides technical support and training to athletes, as appropriate to the sport.

13. Assist with various spirit program duties such as uniform ordering, scheduling, team activities, alumni events, game day/half time performances and other duties as assigned.

14. Assists organizing spirit program clinics and camps (for example: Little Lancers) to further community outreach and fundraising.

15. Adhere to all institutional, conference, NCA and NCAA by-laws and regulations.

16. Establish a safe environment and ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student athletes.

17. Instruct and give spiritual guidance that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self-discipline consistent with the philosophy of athletics at CBU.

18. Coordinate camp registration, staffing, scheduling, facility reservations, risk management, and participant communication.

19. Develop camp curriculum, instructional materials, and operational procedures.

20. Coordinate travel itineraries, lodging, transportation, meals, and travel documentation for spirit programs.

21. Foster a positive culture that supports student development, accountability, and team unity.

  • Ability to travel, including domestic/international air travel, and work nights/weekends.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NCAA experience preferred.
