WECU is seeking an Assistant Branch Manager to join our Sunset branch in Bellingham, WA. The Assistant Branch Manager serves as an operational leader within the branch, supporting the Branch Manager and may directly oversee staff. This role balances people leadership with hands-on operational responsibility, ensuring daily activities, service standards, and compliance requirements are consistently met. The Assistant Branch Manager coaches and develops team members, assists with escalated member situations, and reinforces branch priorities through clear communication and accountability. With a strong focus on execution and service excellence, this role helps translate branch goals into day-to-day performance and supports a positive, engaged team environment.
Availability for an alternating Saturday shift is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for analyzing performance, developing action plans and holding staff accountable to individual and team goals.
- May partner with other Assistant Branch Managers to ensure staff across teams are well trained and have the support they need to perform their duties.
- Partners with Branch Manager in ensuring efficient and sound branch operations, including monitoring and updating operating processes as needed.
- Encourages and inspires team unity, commitment, and trust to create a positive, engaged team who strives to do their best every day.
- Coordinates within and across departmental boundaries to build relationships and achieve production and service goals.
- Facilitates consistent communication, as well as department meetings, to disseminate vision, pertinent information and discuss operations methods and opportunities.
- Ensure that the facility is properly maintained, all equipment works properly and appearance meets WECU standards.
- Perform all functions of the Branch Manager in their absence.
- Engage members to understand their financial needs, recommend and bundle appropriate WECU products, and build long-term relationships by delivering value, meeting sales goals, and maintaining strong product knowledge.
- Deliver exceptional member service by providing clear, personalized financial guidance and effectively resolving concerns - making service decisions and adjustments as needed to ensure a positive experience, strong loyalty, and continued trust in WECU.
- Always understand and comply with branch security procedures.
- Employ sound judgment, maintaining knowledge of and adhering to all accuracy standards described in internal and external policies and procedures.
- Follow WECU's policies and all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned and may also assist others to complete tasks and work assignments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, three to five years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of higher education and experience.
- Relevant experience in a credit union or other financial institution preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
- Skilled in software used in credit union such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and DNA.
- A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact.
- Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.
- Work may involve motivating or influencing others.
- Bi-lingual Spanish a plus.
- Licensed Notary Public or able to acquire within six months in role.
- STAMP certified representative or able to acquire within six months in role.
COMPENSATION:
The hourly range for this position is from $41.42 to $45.19 per hour.
