Scope of Job

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine's Department of Neurology and Behavioral Health is seeking a full-time faculty member to serve as the Program Director of the newly founded Neurology Residency Program. The ideal candidate will continue the growth and sustainability of the residency program to include but not be limited to: teaching, further developing the Neurology residency with GME leaders, ISU Chair (according to ACGME accreditation requirements), leading didactics, sustaining and growing collaborative community partnerships in the Rio Grande Valley. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will provide outpatient care at UT Health's Neurology Clinic located at the Institute of Neuroscience and potentially with other clinical partners with or without trainees.

Minimum Qualifications

M.D. or Equivalent. Must possess or be able to obtain a Texas Medical License. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology and qualified to hold a faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology and Behavioral Health.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
