Assistant/Associate Professor in Experimental Semiconductor Innovation - Engineering City: West Lafayette Job Description: Job Summary Purdue Engineering invites applications for multiple tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in experimental semiconductor research. We seek exceptional candidates pursuing experimental research across the breadth of semiconductor science and engineering. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, semiconductor materials and processing; materials and device characterization; logic and memory technologies; advanced interconnects, heterogeneous integration and packaging; power and wide-bandgap semiconductor devices; integrated devices and circuits; and emerging semiconductor technologies. Successful candidates will have access to the Birck Nanotechnology Center, Purdue's hub for advanced semiconductor research, fabrication, and characterization. Recent investments have expanded Birck's capabilities for wafer-scale semiconductor research, including fabrication at up to 8-inch wafer scale. This is aiming in particular at translational research, especially with semiconducting companies in the vicinity to Birck. The 25,000-ft.2 Scifres Nanofabrication Laboratory is among the largest academic cleanrooms in the United States and houses more than 200 state-of-the-art tools, complemented by extensive capabilities for semiconductor characterization. Together, these resources support experimental research spanning materials science, process development, device fabrication, and integrated semiconductor technologies. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related discipline by the employment start date. The ideal candidate should possess a basic working knowledge of artificial intelligence and machine learning principles. Early-career applicants should show evidence of initiating independent research, while mid-career applicants should demonstrate a sustained record of independent research within academic or industrial organizations, and contributions to education and/or mentoring. The successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and contribute service at the School, College, and University levels.
