Job Description:

As Assistant/Associate Director of Employee Services, you'll help employees, supervisors, and campus leaders navigate complex workplace situations, strengthen working relationships, and support a positive and productive university community. Working closely with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), you'll have the opportunity to lead or provide guidance on employee and labor relations matters, payroll and benefits administration, performance management, workplace conflict resolution, training and development, and compliance.

Duties May Include:

• Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring, and performance management for assigned Employee Services team members.
• Establish priorities, coordinate workflows, and support the effective delivery of various employee related services.
• Contribute to departmental projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Conduct workplace investigations and support disciplinary processes in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Provide consultation and guidance to supervisors and employees on a wide range of employee relations matters such as performance management, workplace concerns and policy interpretation.
• Resolve workplace conflicts by facilitating discussions, recommending solutions, and ensuring issues are handled with fairness and confidentiality.
• Develop and deliver training in partnership with the CHRO on leadership, employee relations, performance management, workplace expectations, and policy and regulatory compliance.
• Build and guide processes for employment-related functions such as benefits, payroll, and recruitment administration.
• Exercise exceptional judgment and uphold the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality when handling sensitive and complex matters.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of 6 years' progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 4 years' HR experience at the mid/high management level, leading, supervising, or coordinating the work of other human resources staff members.
• Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations.
• Highly effective written and oral communication skills.
• Impeccable confidentiality and ethical standards.

Additional:

• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and compliance requirements.
• Evidence of outstanding cultural competency and working successfully with employees from varied backgrounds in the workplace.
• Deep experience with employee relations and sensitive workplace matters.
• Extensive knowledge of, and ability to understand and apply employment laws, regulations, policies, and collective bargaining agreements.

Preferred:

• Current PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or similar HR certification.
• Master's degree in human resources, business administration, social sciences, labor relations, public administration, or other related discipline.
• Experience supporting payroll and/or benefits administration.
• Experience developing and delivering employee related training programs.
