Job Description

SAIC is seeking an Assembly Team Manager for our North Charleston, SC customer site.

The Assembly Team Manager:
  • Manages the activities and staff in an assembly function, which may include but is not limited to, a wide variety of electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical or measurement product assembly operations on product components, assemblies or sub-assemblies.
  • Determines and/or follows methods and sequence of operations in performing wiring, component installation, hand soldering, cable harnessing and welding/fitting on assembly units.
  • Makes setups and adjustments holding tolerances to blueprint specifications. May also set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
  • Manages experienced professionals (e.g. engineers, scientists, financial analysts) who exercise discretion and independent judgement performing assignments. Often heads one or more sections of a small department.
  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.
  • Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.


Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience. Will accept experience in lieu of aa degree.
  • Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
