The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full time Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Knowledge Management (KM) Data Scientist, GS-1560-14 at Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO.

As the principal data science advisor for NORAD & USNORTHCOM's Joint Training, Exercise, and Wargame Directorate (J7), you will lead the charge in developing cutting-edge AI, ML, and data solutions. Your work will modernize our data ecosystem and directly support national security objectives.

Base Salary Range: $129, 096 - $167,830

Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for; you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Qualifications/Requirements:

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the principal data science advisor to the Joint Training, Exercise, and Wargame Directorate (J7), NORAD and USNORTHCOM, guiding the strategy and discovery of cutting-edge data solutions for its most complex and visible initiatives. This role leads the research and development of a modernized data ecosystem, transforming the directorate's ability to access, analyze, and exchange complex data to achieve its strategic objectives.

U.S. Citizenship Required.

This is a designated Drug Testing Position.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).

At least a bachelors' degree in Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

OR

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

A nationally recognized professional certification in Data Science, Data Analytics, or a directly related sub-field; and professional experience in operations research or computer science is highly desirable.

This position is designated as part of the Cyberspace Workforce. As a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to achieve both the foundational) and resident qualification requirements outlined in IAW DOWM 8140.03 for each work role at the assigned proficiency levels.

Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to conceptualize, develop, adapt, modify and apply new models to resolve the most difficult problems and to achieve support for alternative solutions within the scientific community.

Knowledge and skill of a broad range of Department of War or private sector C4 systems, data, scientist Big Data analytics, machine learning, AI, cognitive science, programs, operations, strategies, tactics, resource and information processes, and force structure systems. Includes operations research analysis techniques and mastery of scientific and analytical capabilities.

Skill in articulating and negotiating very complex and sensitive issues with officials of diverse perspectives and often with different or opposing views. Expert ability to negotiate and defend findings and gain support for new program concepts.

Skill to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build and use models and simulation techniques.

Ability to identify opportunities for employing data science tools and application to enable operational and strategic planning in direct support of a combatant command level organization's mission and programs.

Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions, operations, and staff of a small organization.

May be required to perform Battle Roster functions during Exercises and Real-World events. Battle Roster functions.
