Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Medical Director and mentoring providers, the Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) Fellow completes rotations through various clinical service departments at Summit Pacific Medical Center (SPMC) to include the ED, ACU, UCC, and primary Care Clinics. During rotations the fellow provides direct patient care under the direction of the supervising provider to patients of SPMC. The ARNP or PA Fellow may begin to establish a practice with SPMC upon completion of most scheduled rotations, with confirmed intent to hire, within the scope of the ARNP licensure or PA licensure in the state of Washington.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Provides comprehensive care for Primary Care patients in an ambulatory environment with supervision and mentorship. Performs evaluations, discusses goals with patients, implements care plans, prescribes medications, educates patients about risks and benefits, and monitors progress. Works closely with supervising or mentoring provider in the formulation of the total care plans.
- Identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care with mentorship and support. Rounds on patients in order to determine needs. Reviews patient charts to ensure that co-morbidities are appropriately documented.
- During clinical experiences outside of primary care, obtains complete medical history and physical data on patients. Performs complete physical exam and records findings and documents assessment and treatment plan under supervision and mentorship of attending.
- Meets quality care standards, achieves clinical competence, and strives for patient satisfaction. Plans work and develops procedures to accomplish goals with some need for support and mentorship. Complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects.
- Maintains appropriate, accurate and timely records using a computerized record keeping and coding system with some support and mentorship.
- Develops professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience• Master's degree in nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice
- Or Master's degree in physician assistant studies or Doctorate in Physician Assistant studies
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations• Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
• Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Registered Nurse
• OR Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Physician Assistant
• DEA certification (active or pending)
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) highly encouraged
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) highly encouraged
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities1. Ability to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and treat patients across a broad spectrum of medical diagnosis with some mentorship and support.
2. Proficient in the use of current technology and computers; ability to learn and effectively use new programs and equipment.
3. Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
4. Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, managers, and patients.
5. Ability to maintain accurate and timely documentation and records.
6. Ability to work semi-independently performing a wide variety of duties that require the use of independent judgment, advanced problem-solving, critical thinking, organization, and prioritization skills.
