Full Job Description
We are looking for an Area Service Manager. This position will be based from home at several locations throughout the US.

Russelectric, a Siemens Business, manufactures high-integrity on-site power control systems to help ensure 100% uptime without disruptions or aberrations. We deliver engineered solutions to hospitals, data centers, airports, water treatment, renewable energy, DoD and other critically important facilities.

In this role you will be leading the field service technician (FST) team in driving all aspects of field service priorities. This includes but is not limited to start-up, commissioning, preventative maintenance, repairs, and emergency response for Russelectric. The position interacts closely with critical power customers in markets like Healthcare and Datacenters providing superior customer support for critical power applications where uninterrupted service is a requirement.

This is a fast paced, dynamic role requiring strong communication skills, ability to multi-task and adapt as customer needs and project schedules regularly change requiring creative solutions for staffing qualified resources to jobs.
Position Summary

The Area Service Manager is responsible for leading a 24/7 critical power field service organization supporting automatic transfer switches (ATS), paralleling switchgear, power distribution systems, PLCs, SCADA, automation controls, and related infrastructure. This leader oversees a team of Field Service Technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and uninterrupted service delivery for mission-critical customers where power availability is essential.
Business Growth, Sales Support & Strategic Planning
  • Drive revenue growth through market expansion, strategic account management, aftermarket development, and new business opportunities.
  • Own pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, revenue planning, and long-range business planning.
  • Partner with service sales teams on strategic account planning, customer growth initiatives, proposal development, and conversion opportunities.
  • Support contract management, commercial execution, and customer proposal development.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, hiring events, customer forums, and professional conferences.
Field Service Operations & Service Delivery
  • Lead execution of all field service activities including commissioning, start-up, preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, emergency response, and modernization projects.
  • Ensure outstanding service delivery execution for a 24/7 on-call organization supporting critical customer operations.
  • Manage utilization, productivity, workload balancing, scheduling oversight, resource planning, and backlog management.
  • Manage day-to-day site issues and operational customer concerns while partnering with Project Management Organization (PMO) team responsible for major project execution.
  • Lead on-call support programs, fleet management, calibration programs, and operational readiness initiatives.
  • Coordinate project meetings, site reviews, customer planning sessions, and operational reviews.
Customer Relationships & Operational Excellence
  • Build executive-level customer relationships through site meetings, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and ongoing operational engagement.
  • Drive customer retention, satisfaction, responsiveness, and service quality performance.
  • Lead customer blocking issues and support resolution of complex operational, technical, and commercial concerns.
  • Ensure customer documentation, service reports, Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and technical documentation are completed accurately and professionally.
Financial & Performance Management
  • Own P&L execution, profitability improvement, margin performance, and resource optimization.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and operational performance objectives.
  • Partner with Finance and PMO organizations to align revenue forecasts, resource plans, project performance, and estimate-at-complete reviews.
  • Drive disciplined time reporting, expense approvals, job costing, contract compliance, and commercial accountability.
People Leadership, Workforce Development & Succession Planning
  • Lead and develop Field Service Leads and Field Service Technicians through coaching, mentorship, and performance leadership.
  • Manage FST hiring, onboarding, offboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning activities.
  • Conduct growth discussions, performance reviews, talent assessments, and career development planning.
  • Lead technical, leadership, and safety training initiatives while identifying skill gaps and development opportunities.
Safety, Quality & Compliance Leadership
  • Champion a Zero Harm culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage PPE programs, safety training, safety audits, quality audits, and compliance assessments.
  • Conduct field audits and operational reviews to ensure adherence to customer requirements, regulatory standards, and company policies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve service quality, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and workforce safety.

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience with the following:
  • Advanced experience with electrical power systems, equipment, and power automation
  • Outstanding social skills (written and oral) and the capability to communicate effectively with collaborators at different levels within the organization
  • Ensures and promotes the development of the field service technician team/succession planning through coaching, training, and leadership development
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

The pay range for this position is $133K - $198K annually with a target incentive of 15 of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
