Job DescriptionThe HVAC Area Operations Manager, reporting to the Area General Manager, is responsible for financial operational support, including budgets, forecasts, reports, and cash management. This position may grow to include additional business functions such as overseeing regional dispatch team, estimators, and coordinators, as well as perform moderate accounting activities associated with maintaining operational financial reporting. Works under general supervision following clearly defined procedures and policies.
POSITION SUMMARY The Area Operations Manager, reporting to the Area General Manager, is responsible for the financial delivery of operational budgets, forecasts, reports, and cash management. This position includes oversight of key operational roles including Service Manager(s), Project Manager(s), and Project Estimator(s). Works under general supervision following clearly defined procedures and policies.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for the operational financial performance of the area.
- Develop and implement cost control measures and service standards to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
- Effectively apply and support consistent use of policies, procedures, programs, and systems.
- Responsible for the financial delivery of operational budgets, forecasts, reports, cash management.
- To ensure business goals are met, analyze operational reports, focus on key metrics, and use data to drive informed decisions and improvement.
- Oversee safety, inspections, quality control measures, and inventory control of equipment and supplies for the area.
- Effectively direct work assignments, evaluating employee performance, conduct problem resolution, and disciplining employees ensuring discipline and termination practices are fair and consistent.
- Assist with implementation of operational improvements to increase margin growth.
- Assist in driving area sales by operationally supporting sales efforts with the sales team and estimators.
- Collaborate with Area Operations Support Manager to identify areas for improvement and implement changes for a better client experience through timely and clear communication.
- Develop, evaluate, and analyze key operational performance metrics based on company goals and expectations.
- Provide support for special projects as assigned by Area General Manager.
QualificationsMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS The Area Operations Manager should possess the following skills, characteristics, and abilities:
- Excellent customer service and sales skills.
- Five (5) years HVAC management related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- Exhibit in-depth knowledge and understanding of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to work across multiple business units and support other divisions of the company.
- Excellent leadership skills to enhance team productivity and standards of work produced.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong conflict management skills.
- Detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments.
- Good computer skills with proficiency in common office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and general software navigation.
- Possess a strong personal desire for improvement and the desire to motivate employees to do the same.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and background.
- Ability and willingness to work a non-standard schedule including nights, weekends and holidays as required.
- May require up to 50% travel.
