JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Regional Branch Manager, the Area Manager, Chain Division, is responsible for leading and growing our wine business across key retail markets. This role manages a team of wine sales representatives and drives execution in major chains, delivering strong results in distribution, volume, and premium brand growth.

The position serves as the direct connection between suppliers, key accounts, and field execution teams, ensuring MBG Texas delivers best-in-class service, programming, and market execution in the on-premise channel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Off-Premise Sales Representatives across assigned markets
  • Conduct ride-withs focused on wine selling and execution
  • Hold team accountable to goals, PODs, and distribution
  • Establish clear expectations for execution, professionalism, and results
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and territory transitions
  • Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and corrective action when required

Business Planning & Execution

  • Own delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales, distribution, and revenue goals
  • Execute supplier business plans, scorecards, and priority initiatives
  • Ensure consistent call frequency, routing discipline, and market coverage
  • Track PODs, distribution, and revenue growth
  • Execute displays, features, and tastings

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Build strong relationships with key off-premise operators and decision-makers
  • Lead key account calls and assist with menu placements and promotions
  • Develop new off-premise account opportunities
  • Resolve customer issues while protecting MBG relationships
  • Serve as a market ambassador for MBG and its supplier partners

Administrative, Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate CRM usage, reporting, and documentation
  • Manage expenses, mileage, and policy compliance
  • Maintain knowledge of Texas alcohol regulations
  • Partner with HR on performance management and employee relations
  • Manage routing and territory coverage
  • Use Encompass, MyDay, and reporting tools
  • Ensure TABC and pricing compliance
  • Partner with logistics for delivery execution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires attendance at local meetings, local travel and occasional out-of-town travel
  • Hold a valid and current Texas driver's license within MVR policy guidelines throughout employment
  • Ensure reliable, insured transportation, in accordance with company policy
    • The policy must include the following minimum coverage: $100,000 for bodily injury, $300,000 for liability, and $50,000 for property damage
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug screening for hire and randomly throughout employment
