Job Summary:

The Area Director of Sales will have direct oversight of the sales operations for our brand new Residence Inn by Marriott and AC by Marriott Coeur d'Alene, ID hotels *opening soon* and the Springhill Suites by Marriott in Sandpoint, ID. This role has the responsibility to achieve optimal occupancy and ADR growth to maximize total revenue while meeting/exceeding hotel profit objectives. This individual will oversee operations of the hotel sales departments including but not limited to direct sales, follow-up sales administration, hiring of staff, training, managing, and coaching. Additional tasks include sales and marketing, budget, forecast, advertising, marketing, and business plans.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • The primary responsibility of the Area Director of Sales is to strategically plan and oversee the sales and marketing activities for a group of hotels
  • This position entails achieving optimal occupancy and growth in average daily rate (ADR) to maximize total revenue, while also surpassing the profit objectives set for the entire collection of hotels
  • The Area Director of Sales will be in charge of managing the hotel sales department, which includes tasks such as direct sales follow-up, sales administration, staff hiring, training, and coaching
  • Other responsibilities include creating sales and marketing budgets, forecasting, advertising, marketing, and business plans. All tasks must be managed within the approved plans and budgets
  • The coordination of all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings is crucial to maximize overall revenue
  • Developing, recommending, implementing, and managing the annual budget for the division, as well as the advertising, public relations, marketing, and sales plans and programs for the hotel, is essential. The aim is to maximize rates, occupancy, and food & beverage opportunities, thus ensuring that the hotel exceeds revenue/profit goals and expectations.
  • Initiating and organizing sales trips to key feeder markets/cities is important, with a focus on identifying accounts that can directly contribute to revenue performance targets for all hotels within the cluster
  • Working directly with property-based Sales to assist in coordinating on property direct sales efforts is part of the role
  • Based at the Coeur d'Alene hotels, this position requires regular travel to the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Sandpoint to conduct sales calls, develop key customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, collaborate with the on-property leadership team, and support the commercial strategy across the portfolio.
  • Proactively conducting market research, analyzing industry trends, and staying informed about competitor activities is an ongoing responsibility
  • Reliable transportation for travel on a weekly basis as required

  • Employees are required to adhere to safety requirements by wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Work is routine and repetitive in nature and may require strenuous physical exertion at times, including the ability to move objects weighing up to 50lbs
  • Valid Drivers License
