GFT is looking for a talented Architectural Designer to join our Washington D.C. office!

 

In this role, you will need to be a motivated designer with a positive attitude to support architectural teams and fully commit to multi-disciplined design efforts. You should expect to be challenged to produce high quality work in a fast-paced and intellectually engaging environment.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:  

  • Prepares project documents including but not limited to plans, details, and initial set up work on projects.
  • Generates take offs for cost estimates and perform architectural square foot or other appropriate calculations in support of architectural activities involving the design of architectural systems, components, or features.
  • Gathers and records information such as product information and cut sheets to be used for cost estimating and specifications.
  • Supports efforts for studies and reports and assists with preparation of routine technical reports or sections of reports.
  • Assists with sheet set up on project drawings, drawing schedules, plans, elevations, sections, details, and specifications.
  • Assists with pick up of redline markings on drawings and completion of work.
  • Prepares 3D imaging using proprietary software for client and in house presentations as directed by supervisor.
  • Learns basic code evaluation procedure and information gathering requirements for review with supervisor.
  • Individual is capable of working proficiently on their own with direction from supervisors.
  • Capable of recognizing when to ask questions, so they may continue with work efficiently within their time schedule for the project while limiting interruptions of the supervisor and workflow of others on the project team.
  • Coordinates work with other team members thru communication and supervision.
  • Capable of following direction, project / office standards, and implementing constructive criticism to improve work product and development with supervision.
  • Responsible for project work during construction assigned by supervisor including but not limited to submittal tasks, RFI’s, supplemental work including sketches, or submittal review process.

What you will bring to our firm:

  • Architectural Engineering Degree, Bachelor of Architecture Degree, or Bachelor of Science with a Master of Architecture
  • Starting or in process of fulfilling internship requirements / path for licensure
  • Maintains Continuing Education Units (CEU) to meet requirements for licensure
  • Ability to become an NCARB member under a mentor TRAINING, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Designer position with 2 years of Experience in an Architectural Office.
  • Capable of using and proficient experience with AutoCAD, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Revit
  • Sketch-up, 3D software, rendering software, Photoshop Working knowledge of design software
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Good oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of communicating and / or presenting concepts and thoughts thru verbal, written, or drawing medium

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000 Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
