Full Job Description
The Architect at Model Remodel provides architectural expertise and technical design leadership for assigned residential remodeling projects. This role focuses on architectural oversight, permit strategy and coordination, documentation quality, constructability, and code alignment to support projects that meet client goals and MRM's schedule and profitability objectives. Working closely with Designers, Client Services, Estimating, Production, and external consultants, the Architect supports consistent standards across drawings and documentation, helps identify risks early, and contributes practical recommendations that keep projects moving. Job Requirements: - Licensed Architect with an active Washington State license required. - 5-8 years of experience in residential architecture or residential remodeling design. - Proven experience supporting permit strategy and jurisdictional coordination for residential projects, including managing corrections and review cycles. - Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, zoning requirements, and energy code considerations. - Ability to review and guide architectural drawings for functionality, constructability, and code compliance. - Proficiency with residential design and documentation software (e.g., Chief Architect or comparable platforms). - Experience coordinating with Designers, structural/energy consultants, estimators, and construction teams to produce coherent, coordinated drawing sets. - Ability to identify architectural risks early and communicate clear, practical recommendations. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages. - Collaborative communicator who works effectively across disciplines and stakeholders. - Degree in Architecture or a related field required. - Experience with Seattle-area jurisdictions strongly preferred. - Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements: - Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. - Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. - Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and active construction environments. - Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds. - Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds. - Must be able to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time. - Must be able to use a computer and accurately view drawings, details, and color information.
