Full Job Description
The Chicago Department of Aviation is seeking an Architect IV to perform complex professional architectural duties in connection with the design, construction and renovation of large-scale projects for municipal buildings, facilities and structures, and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Technical Advisory: Coordinates the architectural aspects of projects with other project disciplines, including but not limited to engineers, utility managers, design consultants, construction managers, project managers, and/or contractors. Reviews architectural and adjacent subject matters in design and construction deliverables and provides comments and recommendations on behalf of the City. Project Management: Manages large design and construction projects and reviews technical drawings, RFIs, proposed changes, and contract amendments prepared by architects, engineers and contractors to ensure compliance with municipal codes, industry best practices, project specifications, and recommend changes. Other job-related duties for the section operations. Additional duties may be required for this position. Location: 10510 W. Zemke RD, Chicago, IL 60666 Days: Monday-Friday Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus three (3) years of professional architectural work experience Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following option is acceptable: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Architecture plus two (2) years of professional architectural work experience The candidate selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA) SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to complete an interview.
