Full Job Description
Haugland Group, a privately owned civil infrastructure and energy construction company, has an immediate opportunity for an experienced SOI-Qualified Archaeologistto operate from St. Croix and St. Thomas.

The SOI-Qualified Archaeologist serves as the lead technical authority for archaeological compliance on FEMA-funded and NHPA Section 106 projects. The role includes preparation of work plans, archaeological monitoring and testing oversight, discovery response, and coordination with FEMA and VISHPO.

Key Functions:
• Prepare and submit archaeological workplans for FEMA approval through SHPO/VISHPO consultation.
• Direct and/or perform archaeological monitoring and testing activities.
• Manage inadvertent discoveries including human remains protocols.
• Oversee artifact documentation, processing, and transfer to VISHPO.
• Author and sign monitoring, testing, and compliance reports.
• Coordinate with project managers and construction teams.

Desired Qualifications:
• Meets Secretary of the Interior (SOI) Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeology.
• Graduate degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated supervisory field experience.
• Experience with FEMA EHP and NHPA Section 106 compliance.

Compensation for this role is $100,000-$120,000.
