Join Our Team as a Apprentice and Training Manager at Epiroc!

The Apprentice and Training Manager will be responsible, under the direction and guidance of the Operations Manager and Product Support manager- Training for the development, promotion, retention of all trade apprentices. Supporting apprentices in an innovative, collaborative, and integrated approach to accelerate the transformation to a fully licensed technician, part of the Epiroc service team. The Apprentice and Training Manager provides administrative, counseling, consultative and mentoring services for apprenticeship training and certification within the Apprenticeship Program. As well as promoting and coordinating apprenticeship training required for both external and internal training programs. Conducts apprenticeship training program assessments using industry standards. Understanding of interprovincial differences and ensuring these are followed. Promoting high quality training with a high focus on safe work practices. Promoting of Epiroc apprenticeship and certification opportunities to diverse audiences. Coordinates and administers apprenticeship agreements and examinations, advises apprentices and employers of their rights and responsibilities under relevant legislation and regulations regarding apprenticeship programs and investigates matters of non-compliance under the legislation. Work with the Training department to develop, communicate and execute internal training plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing all apprentices training path to ensure they successfully completed and obtained interprovincial licensing in their respective trade.
  • Collaborating with departmental Supervisors to support Apprentice rotations.
  • Facilitating regular monthly touch points with each Apprentice and action next steps as needed.
  • Onboarding of Apprentices upon commencing employment.
  • Ensure completion of TL and Prime Certification to meet CC KPI
  • Daily management of the apprentice program
  • Coordinating all ELearning training part of Lunchbox, Prime, and TL Certification
  • Networking with secondary and post-secondary institutions to promote Epiroc and the Apprenticeship Program
  • Work with local colleges to coordinate refresher/upskilling courses.
  • Managing, maintaining, and updating all apprentice program materials (guidebook, policies, procedures).
  • Ensuring Apprenticeship Program policies and procedures are observed.
  • Monitoring Mentor role expectations and responsibilities.
  • The coordinator will monitor and guide the apprentices' career development progress.
  • Regular updates of progress to the Training manager, HR, as well as apprentices' direct manager
  • Keep records and statistics and prepare reports, returns and submissions as required.
  • Ensure apprentices rotation program is adhered to.
  • Work with Training department to ensure training plans are met.
  • Search for and assist with available grant applications.
  • Ensure trade safe practices are being communicated to the apprentice.
  • Traveling within Canada could be required.


Knowledge/Education:
  • 2-5 years of experience in management or supervisory role.
  • Experience in training and development would be an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role. Working for other OEM or School systems
  • Knowledge of or experience in the Heavy Equipment Technician, industrial Electrician, or Automation trades
  • Knowledge of the Skilled Trades Ontario (STO) and Standards and Examinations Department administration policies
  • Knowledge with the Apprenticeship Training Standards (ATS), Curriculum Standards (CS)


Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast, ever-changing environment.
  • Must have genuine desire to want to see young apprentices attain their red seal license.
  • Must be resourceful and have strong problem-solving skills.
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset. Both Written and spoken. Company has National footprint.
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire to simplify and streamline processes and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
