Position Summary

This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising members of the DMS Applications and Data unit, which manages the agency wide application and data systems.

The incumbent must manage and direct the efforts of state employees and consultants oversee cost estimates and proposed project budgets, oversee technical activities and plans that address the business needs of the department, and provide task-oriented leadership to ensure and optimal service delivery to the agency and its partners.

Salary Information

The classification title for this position is IS Supervisor 2 . The starting salary is between $54.00 and $62.00 per hour ($112,320 and $128,960 annually), depending on qualification s. Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at the time of the appointment. Pay for current state employees who are transferring will be determined based upon the pay on transfer rules (higher level duties or equity) as outlined in the compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment.

The pay schedule/range is 70-02. A two-year career executive trial period may be required.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, final candidates will be required to complete a comprehensive fingerprint-based background investigation to determine whether the circumstances of any pending charges or convictions would be substantially related to the job being filled.

The Department of Children and Families does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience leading an IT application development team for an organization of 100 employees or more (tracking work product, overseeing technical activities to meet objectives, directing work, coaching/mentoring, and setting an example of quality customer service, etc.)
  • Experience participating and/or leading an IT project (development and execution of details, managing project budgets, administering work plans and schedules, making assignments, etc.)
  • Experience developing and/or maintaining IT applications development standards and guidelines (defining architectural principles for scalable and maintainable IT applications, data management best practices, establishing and enforcing IT application security compliance standards etc.) for an organization of 100 employees or more.


Well-qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience supervising and/or managing expert level IT professionals (evaluating staff performance, discipline, assigning work, providing feedback, hiring staff, etc.).
  • Experience working with customer/stakeholder engagement (internal/external stakeholders, negotiating project priorities, etc.) to provide IT solutions to end users.
  • Experience developing and/or advising upper management on IT's strategic plan.
