Responsibilities

  • Provide scientific training, demonstrations, and workflow consultations for RheoSense instruments and software.
  • Translate viscosity, rheology, and microfluidic concepts into customer workflows.

  • Support customers both remotely and on-site for successful technology integration.
  • Install, configure, and maintain RheoSense instruments at customer sites.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure optimal instrument performance.

Full Job Description
Position: Application Scientist (US)
Corporate Office: The role requires periodic travel within the assigned region to support customer onboarding, instrument installations, application training, technical demonstrations, and ongoing customer success initiatives.
Relocation Assistance: No. While all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, priority consideration will be given to local candidates who can regularly work on-site at the San Ramon headquarters.

Salary: $110,000 to $125,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and other job-related, non-discriminatory factors. Starting compensation will be determined based on relevant education, technical expertise, industry experience, demonstrated competencies, and the candidate's ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of this blended Application Scientist and Field Service role.

As this position is based at our San Ramon, California headquarters, compensation has been established to reflect the local market, the on-site nature of the role, and the specialized scientific, technical, and customer-facing requirements of the position. The salary range reflects the expected hiring range for this role; however, final compensation will be commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience.

  • Provide scientific training, demonstrations, and workflow consultations for RheoSense instruments and software.
  • Translate viscosity, rheology, and microfluidic concepts into practical applications for customer workflows.
  • Guide customers in method development, data interpretation, and best practices for high-precision viscosity measurements.
  • Support customers both remotely and on site to ensure successful integration of RheoSense technologies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain RheoSense instruments at customer sites as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure optimal instrument performance and minimal downtime.
  • Document service activities, customer interactions, and technical findings accurately and promptly.
  • Provide technical expertise during customer evaluations, demos, and discussions to support business development efforts.
  • Identify customer needs and communicate insights to sales, engineering, product development, and R&D teams.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer satisfaction during all field and remote interactions.
  • Travel as needed to support customer installations, application and instrument training, technical troubleshooting, product demonstrations, and ongoing customer success initiatives as part of a blended Application Scientist and Field Service function.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with global teams
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English are required. The ability to effectively communicate complex scientific and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including customers, colleagues, and business partners, is essential. Additional language skills are a plus but are not required.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel independently to customer sites and other business locations as required to support installations, training, technical support, and customer success activities.
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move equipment up to 40 lbs (18 kg)

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
  • Experience with viscosity, rheology, microfluidics, or related technologies
  • Prior applications scientist or customer-facing scientific support experience
  • Hands-on experience with instrument installation, calibration, or field service
  • Technical support experience for sales or business development
  • Strong data analysis and scientific interpretation skills

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or move equipment and materials weighing up to 40 pounds and perform hands-on tasks associated with instrument setup, installation, maintenance, and technical support.
  • Ability to travel domestically and, on occasion, internationally to support customer visits, instrument installations, training, product demonstrations, technical support activities, conferences, and other business-related needs.
