Division Description:

ITW Electronics Assembly Equipment (EAE) Division is made up of four brands strongly recognized by Contract Manufacturers and OEMs in the Electronics and Industrial Markets. The Division designs, develops, manufactures, and markets capital equipment primarily used in the assembly process of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and other industrial applications.

Position Purpose (general summary of this position):

This position provides an opportunity to join a global applications team. In this role, you will deliver application and technical guidance on products and services to both customers and internal team members to ensure effective solutions that meet their needs. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving complex application and system design challenges, while also identifying and recommending viable alternative solutions.

Additionally, you will evaluate customer requirements and develop tailored proposals and presentations demonstrating how the company’s products or services can address those needs and integrate effectively with existing systems. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineer who can work independently with minimal supervision.

Required Skills/ Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 2–3 years of experience in SMT and/or semiconductor applications, or equivalent experience as an EA Equipment Field Service Engineer.
  • Working knowledge of statistical tools used for the development, analysis, and control of electronics manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to develop process engineering test plans and procedures.
  • Foundational understanding of electro-mechanical systems, including electrical, mechanical, and software components.
  • Familiarity with quality control standards and workmanship requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • General knowledge of product applications, features, and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization, including production teams.

Preferred Skills/ Experience:

  • Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes, including SMT, cleaning, and through-hole technologies.
  • Exposure to SMT line equipment such as reflow ovens, wave soldering systems, and cleaning equipment.
  • Knowledge of materials and applications used in electronics assembly, including underfill, adhesives, UV epoxies, solder paste, fluxes, and cleaning agents.
  • Understanding of semiconductor applications and related manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of quality control standards and process requirements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using statistical tools for process development, analysis, and control.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new technologies, equipment, and processes.

Essential Functions of the Job (responsibilities):

  • Support execution of customer training programs during beta and controlled product launch phases.
  • Assist with pre- and post-sales customer engagement, including site visits, virtual support, and process development.
  • Plan and support customer lab trials, demonstrations, and design of experiments (DOE) to validate product performance.
  • Provide post-installation support to customers and sales teams, including troubleshooting and process optimization.
  • Contribute to factory acceptance testing (FAT) and site acceptance testing (SAT) activities.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), including customer production ramp-up and internal machine readiness.
  • Assist in project design, specification development, testing, and documentation for new and existing product initiatives under guidance from the Product Technology Manager.
  • Support engineering trials for new product development, including setup, execution, and data collection.
  • Maintain and operate demo and engineering lab equipment used for testing and customer evaluations.
  • Troubleshoot customer process and equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve performance.
  • Support the development of quotes, non-standard requests (NSQ/RFQ), and equipment upgrade proposals.
  • Participate in software and hardware testing, including bug identification, validation, and feedback.
  • Gather and communicate customer feedback (Voice of Customer) to support continuous product improvement.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including manuals, application notes, and internal process guides.
  • Provide support for trade shows and marketing events, including setup and customer interaction.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Working conditions involve seated computer work and occasional operation and work on company equipment/products.  requires 50% seating, 20% standing, 10% bending, 10% walking and 10% light lifting to   twenty-five pounds.  Travel up to 10%.  A valid passport is required.

Compensation Information:

The pay rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior experience. The range for this position is :$72,000 – $97,000 (annually).
