Job Description SummaryThe Application Engineer serves as the technical engine between our customers and internal commercial teams, driving precision in the Inquiry-to-Order (ITO) lifecycle. You will architect technical solutions, optimize system configurations, and deliver high-accuracy proposals that accelerate GSI service outcomes. Your primary mandate is to synchronize customer requirements with GE Vernova technical standards. You will provide specialized support for Installation & Construction services, ensuring seamless integration within our Engineer, Procure, and Construct (EPC) project portfolio.
Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities- Technical Proposal Development: Translate complex customer inquiries into actionable, high-quality technical proposals, specifications, and scopes of work.
- ITO Process Optimization: Partner with Sales and Commercial teams to streamline RFQ processes, ensuring technical feasibility and adherence to GE Vernova standards.
- Solution Engineering: Analyze site-specific requirements and legacy data to recommend optimal service solutions, upgrades, or modernization paths.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Engineering, Sourcing, and Project Management to validate cost estimates, lead times, and resource availability pre-submission.
- Risk Mitigation: Conduct early-stage technical risk assessments to identify design or service challenges within the commercial process.
- Tooling & Standards: Maintain and optimize the technical library, costing models, and configuration tools used during the proposal phase.
- Development of strategic spare parts to be supplied through our projects. Will include the identification, qualification, and creation of the parts with SAP
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
- 3-5+ years of experience in Application Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Field Service operations.
- Up to 25% travel based on the business needs
- Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, single-line diagrams, data sheets, and performance specifications for high-voltage assets.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Substation Construction Expertise: Demonstrated experience in the construction and engineering of substation projects, with a strong grasp of Electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) equipment (e.g., power transformers, circuit breakers, disconnects, P&C systems).
- Strong understanding of the Power Generation/Services industry and ITO/OTR workflows.
Desired Characteristics- Expertise in large-scale substation proposal development, including full-turnkey EPC/EPCI solutions and civil works.
- Experience estimating engineering design packages (drawings, calculations, studies, BOMs) and applying cost engineering theory.
- Working knowledge of HV/EHV substation physical design, foundation design, and site preparation.
- Proven background in construction, field testing, and commissioning.
- Technical proficiency in the design of T&D equipment, electrical substations, and protection devices.
- A "Passion to Win" mindset-proactively identifying ways to improve hit rates and developing technical strategies based on defined customer Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) requirements.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $104,200.00 and $173,700.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
