APM Fleet Support Engineer - Structure/Mechanical in Pittsburgh, PA, or one of our other locations (Dallas/Fort Worth, TX; Atlanta, GA; Denver, CO; or South San Francisco, CA) we're looking for?
Your future roleTake on a new challenge and apply your expertise in structure and mechanical engineering to a cutting-edge field. You'll work alongside collaborative, innovative, and dedicated teammates.
You'll play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of APM (Automated People Mover) vehicles and selected wayside systems. Day-to-day, you'll work closely with teams across the business (such as wayside and infrastructure engineers), provide technical support for troubleshooting and upgrades, and contribute to engineering solutions and safety compliance.
You'll specifically take care of developing and validating engineering solutions for APM systems, but also managing engineering change documentation and supporting site teams with technical justifications.
We'll look to you for:
- Developing and validating engineering solutions for APM systems
- Preparing and managing engineering change documentation for designated systems
- Providing technical support for troubleshooting and upgrades of designated subsystems
- Collaborating with wayside and infrastructure engineers to ensure integrated solutions
- Supporting site teams with CARP documentation and technical justifications
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations
- Functioning as a liaison between O&M Site Engineering and Design Authority representatives/vendors
- Supporting APM O&M sites or end customers on technical subjects as needed
- Identifying opportunities for fleet and wayside upgrades, modifications, and improvements
- Providing technical governance and leadership for regional and global engineering initiatives
- Chairing or supporting user groups and global community calls to resolve issues and spread best practices

- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in APM, railway, or similar mechanical/civil engineering roles
- Experience with track/railway systems, switches, or heavy construction projects
- Understanding of wiring, power distribution, control systems, onboard electronics, and signaling interfaces
- Ability to travel 50% or more, including short-notice assignments
- Strong ability to identify opportunities for standard solutions and architectures to maximize reuse and minimize rework
- Commitment to resolving obsolescence and safety issues across multiple fleets
- Ability to Identify opportunities to maximize the use of best cost engineering resources in delivering both global and regional engineering initiatives.
- Proficiency in providing technical governance and leadership for services projects
