Position: APAC Trading and Operations Lead

VanEck is expanding its real-world asset (RWA) product offering to include one or more fully allocated, physically backed tokens targeting institutional and APAC distribution. The underlying asset is held by a regulated custodian, tokenized on-chain through a regulated tokenization agent, and distributed to investors globally.
The APAC Trading and Operations Lead owns the end-to-end daily workflow for the product. The role makes sure every unit of the underlying asset is accounted for, every transaction is reconciled, and every investor instruction is executed accurately. It is a founding seat on a small team, based in Tampa, FL with self-directed ownership of APAC-hours coverage, and it sits between physical custody, on-chain tokenization, and US-based compliance and senior management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Includes the following, other duties may be assigned as needed:
Asset trading and procurement
- Execute purchase and sale orders for the underlying asset with the trading desk to satisfy creation and redemption requests.
- Monitor spot prices, manage trade timing across the relevant benchmark pricing window, and confirm trade details with the counterparty.
- Maintain awareness of custody balances and forward obligations, and flag any shortfalls to senior management.
Custody operations and physical settlement
- Coordinate inbound and outbound physical asset movements with the custodian.
- Verify asset identifiers, quantities, and authentication certificates against trade confirmations and custody receipts.
- Oversee physical settlement and reconcile any discrepancies against the sub-ledger.
Token minting and burning
- Initiate mint instructions to the tokenization agent through the internal dashboard upon confirmed receipt of the asset into custody.
- Initiate burn and redemption instructions upon validated redemption requests, and confirm token retirement on-chain.
- Maintain daily reconciliation of the on-chain ledger against the physical asset sub-ledger.
Reporting and compliance support
- Produce daily operational reports covering asset holdings, pending mints and burns, and settlement status for internal review.
- Support the monthly attestation process with auditors by providing accurate custody and transaction records.
- Coordinate with US Compliance on AML and KYC escalations for creation and redemption requests as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities None
Qualifications - Digital asset exposure; familiarity with tokenized products, digital assets, or blockchain-based settlement is strongly preferred
- Accuracy and accountability; evidence of operating in a low-error-tolerance environment with strong attention to detail and clear ownership of outcomes
- Independence and self-direction; ability to run a sole-coverage, founding role across time zones without close supervision
- Cross-team communication; clear communicator who can coordinate with US-based legal, compliance and senior management teams across time zones
- Ability to work in office four days a week and cover APAC hours
Education and/or Experience - Bachelors degree in finance, economics or a related field
- 5-7 years of financial services experience, ideally with exposure to tokenized products, digital assets or blockchain
- Experience in a hands-on execution and reconciliation role
- Series 7 or equivalent registration is ideal. Willingness to obtain required licenses is expected
