  • Facilitate the emergency privileges process when necessary.

Full Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

To establish guidelines for the delineation of clinical privileges for physicians related to The Hospital Department of Anesthesiology.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • The physician must have an M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • A physician, licensed to practice medicine in the State of Indiana, who has successfully completed an anesthesiology residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or by the American Osteopathic Association, (AOA).
  • Permanent certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) or maintenance of certification in anesthesiology (MOCA), when indicated, as outlined by the ABA.
  • When hired, the anesthesiologist must be, at a minimum, board eligible by the ABA. However, the physician must become board certified within the time frame set forth by the Department of Anesthesiology (3 years) from the date of employment. (Applicable after August 15, 2004
  • Current DEA and State of Indiana Controlled Substance Registration.
  • Documentation of good mental and physical health standing.
  • Credible references and recommendations upon demand.
  • The physician may only provide medical and / or anesthesia care after being granted privileges to practice by The Hospital Board, Medical Staff Executive Committee and Credentials Committee, or in some instances by other mechanisms following Medical Staff guidelines (e.g. emergency privileges process)
