ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

THE POSITION

The Analyst or Senior Analyst (title to be commensurate with the individual’s level of experience and qualifications) will primarily support AGNC’s Strategy & Corporate Development and Investor Relations (IR) teams, with additional support to the Corporate Communications team as needed. This role will require a highly motivated, detail-oriented team player that is comfortable working closely with senior management, communicating with both internal and external constituents, and collaborating across multiple departments on a daily basis. This individual will be expected to bring creative thought, operational excellence, and a high level of integrity and accountability to these functions and will be expected to perform duties with relatively limited oversight. Responsibilities would be expected to gradually increase over time as this individual becomes more experienced.

 

This full-time position will report to the SVP, Strategy & Corporate Development. AGNC offers the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis; this individual will be required to work in-person at the Bethesda, Maryland office at least three days per week.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

 

CORPORATE STRATEGY – PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support senior team in developing and maintaining AGNC’s investor messaging, branding, and market positioning strategies. Continually evaluate existing strategies and suggest enhancement opportunities for consideration.
  • Collaborate with senior team in developing and conveying key themes and messages to both internal and external constituents, including current and prospective institutional and retail investors, on an ongoing basis. This will require the individual to develop a strong understanding of and ability to communicate AGNC's business model as well as market drivers, industry trends, and factors impacting the macroeconomic environment and the investment landscape.
  • Prepare and update marketing collateral on a regular basis, including corporate presentations, fact sheets, investor kits, website information, and conference materials.
  • Support senior team in developing and updating AGNC’s market commentary and thought pieces, which are frequently published on AGNC’s website and through social media channels.
  • Evaluate existing materials for opportunities to enhance the presentation of content or design elements.
  • Collaborate with senior team to develop, coordinate, and execute investor marketing campaigns. Key responsibilities would include analysis of outreach opportunities (benefits, considerations, costs, and ROIs); creation of materials; and investor outreach, coordination, and follow-up (emails, calls, and virtual or in-person meetings).
  • Develop investor targeting criteria and relevant investor target lists in efforts to expand AGNC’s investor base. Lead material creation and outreach initiatives for investor prospecting efforts.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the competitive landscape and the mortgage REIT industry. Analyze and communicate internally peer news, financial results, key themes / messages, and public commentary.
  • Support senior team with other ad hoc strategic initiatives, as needed: build financial models; create presentations, memos, and Board materials; support cross-organizational workflows; and perform ad hoc strategic and financial analyses.

 

 

INVESTOR RELATIONS – PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support IR team in preparing quarterly earnings deliverables and executing earnings-related initiatives, including coordination of quarterly stockholder call, webcast, and related logistics.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both current and prospective institutional investors as well as sell-side research analysts.
  • Coordinate and participate in investor and analyst calls and meetings and assist with investor communications.
  • Monitor and respond to investor inquiries in a timely manner, seeking input from senior team members as needed.
  • Assist in preparation for investor meetings, roadshows, and conferences, including background research, registrations, coordination, and logistics.
  • Support senior team throughout governance-related campaigns (including outreach, material creation, and investor tracking and follow-up).
  • Coordinate logistics and execute initiatives related to AGNC’s annual meeting of stockholders.
  • Coordinate logistics and execute initiatives related to AGNC’s participation in Nasdaq events and investor days.
  • Closely monitor and distribute internally any news related to AGNC or our industry; track sentiment, ownership trends and changes, and consensus estimates; and create and update related reports as needed.
  • Lead oversight and management of investor and vendor databases (CRM systems).
  • Support senior team with other ad hoc IR duties, as needed.

 

 

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT

  • Assist in drafting and distributing investor communications and AGNC news, including press releases, as needed.
  • Assist in developing, refining, and executing AGNC’s social media strategies, as needed.
  • Assist in continually evaluating media engagement opportunities, including social media opportunity set, as needed.
  • Assist in completing website updates and maintaining website content, as needed.

Assist in creating reports and performing analyses related to AGNC’s website and social media engagement trends, as needed.

 

Qualifications

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Finance, Business, Economics, or related concentration is highly preferred.
  • 1-5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate strategy, corporate development, investor relations, buy-side/sell-side research, asset/wealth management, management consulting, or another corporate finance role is required.
  • Experience at a publicly traded company is preferred but not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, is required.
  • Experience managing CRM systems is a strong plus.
  • Experience building models to run complex analyses and manipulate large data sets is a strong plus.
  • Experience with financial market intelligence platforms, such as Bloomberg, S&P Capital IQ Pro, S&P Capital Access, Nasdaq IR Insight, or FactSet, or managed web hosting platforms, such as WP Engine, is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Claude or other AI tools is a strong plus.
  • Experience with design software or related technologies is a strong plus.

  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, exceptional communication abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach who will prioritize and multi-task effectively to achieve deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • A demonstrated ability to understand, analyze, and articulate financial data and business model drivers/trends and prepare high quality output materials (presentations, memos, etc.) that communicate complex concepts in a succinct and visually appealing manner.
  • Must be comfortable working closely with senior management and possess the ability to develop relationships among all levels of the organization and with external constituents.
  • Must possess strong and effective decision-making skills, a high level of integrity and sound judgment, and a keen sensitivity to appropriate handling of confidential information.
  • Collaborative nature with a willingness to pitch in wherever assistance is needed – no job is too big or small. This individual will be one member of a 7-person team, and collaborating with team members and pitching in to assist with team projects will be expected on a daily basis.

The salary range expected for this role is $95,000 – $105,000 for the Analyst level, and $100,000 - $120,000 for the Senior Analyst level, commensurate with the individual’s level of experience and qualifications. Additional potential compensation may be offered in the form of an annual cash bonus and long-term equity targeted at up to 20% of salary (in aggregate), subject to company and individual performance and equity plan documents.
