The Analyst, Evaluations and Business Development is responsible for conducting financial evaluations of business development opportunities and identifying, assessing, and advancing partnership opportunities including toll milling, ore purchase agreements, joint ventures, and M&A transactions. The role supports the development of strategic objectives by defining and applying appropriate financial metrics to address risks, trade-offs, and value drivers within Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans. Responsibilities include reporting and benchmarking financial metrics for internal opportunities and competitors, as well as developing and maintaining a structured system for tracking, comparing, and prioritizing opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and apply appropriate financial and economic models to evaluate project alternatives, sensitivities, and strategic trade-offs.
  • Support financial evaluations for a range of business development and project development initiatives.
  • Evaluate partnership and growth opportunities including toll milling, ore purchase agreements, joint ventures, and M&A transactions.
  • Support development of strategic objectives by defining and applying financial metrics aligned with Life-of-Mine (LOM) plans.
  • Review and validate mine designs and production schedules, including assessment of key engineering assumptions.
  • Build mine designs and schedules at the level required to support evaluations, from high-level parametric studies to detailed feasibility analyses.
  • Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Maptek, Datamine) in accordance with current industry best practices and emerging methodologies.
  • Track, benchmark, and compare internal and external opportunities; maintain a consistent system for opportunity evaluation and reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and present financial evaluations and economic analyses for SPS feasibility and investment decision documents.
  • Identify, develop, and execute value-enhancing studies that improve overall project economics.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of project activities, assumptions, and study outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to coordinate project activities, resolve issues, and support effective project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, legal obligations, and behavioral safety programs.
  • Uphold and ensure adherence to Barrick's Code of Conduct, Anti-Bribery & Anti-Corruption, Human Rights, and all corporate policies and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree mine engineering, geology, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, process engineering, civil engineering, or related area.
  • Proven team leadership and cross-functional collaboration experience
  • 6+ years' experience in the mining and/or construction industry
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant systems experience
  • Experience with all facets of a mining operation including geology/exploration, planning (studies and permitting), mining, processing (including tailings management), and closure
  • Strong operating system skills
