OverviewTo support the Energy & Decarbonization team by providing analytical, research and project support across Hines’ energy, building infrastructure and decarbonization initiatives.
As a central analytical resource, key responsibilities will include supporting asset and portfolio-level analysis of energy performance, carbon emissions, building systems, energy markets and decarbonization opportunities. The Analyst will work with Energy & Decarbonization subject matter experts and broader Hines teams to translate data and technical information into actionable insights that support investment, asset management, development and operational decision-making.
Energy & Decarbonization Strategy Implementation through supporting the following tasks:
- Analyze asset and portfolio-level energy, emissions, building and financial data to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Support technical and financial analysis of energy and decarbonization opportunities, including energy efficiency, electrification, renewable energy, embodied carbon and building infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain analytical models, tools and visualizations used to evaluate portfolio performance, investment requirements and business opportunities.
- Research energy markets, emerging technologies, regulations and industry practices and assess their potential implications for Hines' real estate business.
- Support portfolio benchmarking, pathway modeling and other analyses related to Hines' energy and decarbonization objectives.
- Gather, organize, validate and reconcile data from property, energy, emissions and other enterprise data sources.
- Develop presentations, recommendations and other materials that translate technical and analytical findings into clear business insights.
- Support Energy & Decarbonization projects and initiatives through research, analysis, consultant coordination and collaboration with regional and functional teamss.
Internal and External Relationships
- Collaborate across Hines' Investment Management, Asset Management, Development, Engineering, Management Services, Data & Analytics, Technology, Sustainability and regional teams, as well as with consultants and other external partners as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with demonstrated quantitative, analytical or technical coursework or experience similar to engineering, energy, economics, finance, real estate, data analytics, environmental studies.
- Three plus years of relevant professional, internship or academic experience.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience working with quantitative information and translating analysis into clear conclusions.
- Prior experience in real estate, energy, engineering, finance, consulting or sustainability is beneficial but not required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with intellectual curiosity and an ability to learn new subjects quickly.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and comfort working with quantitative data and executive presentation.
Strong research and communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear conclusions.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities.
Self-starter who can work independently while collaborating effectively across teams and disciplines.
