About the RoleAs an AMS Consultant, you will serve as a trusted advisor and functional expert for clients who are live on Workday. Your primary focus will be supporting and optimizing Workday HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, and Financials configurations in production environments. Day to day, this means resolving functional issues, advising on best practices, configuring business process changes, and helping clients adapt their Workday setup as their business evolves.
You will work directly with client HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT teams to understand their operational challenges and translate them into practical Workday solutions. You will also collaborate with internal delivery teams and escalation resources to ensure timely, high-quality service.
In this role, you will own your client relationships and manage your own work across multiple accounts simultaneously. You will need to bring your own structure, set your own pace, and make sound decisions with limited oversight. If you do your best work when given real responsibility and the space to figure things out, this role was built for you.
What You Will Do- Provide ongoing functional support for Workday HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, and Financials across multiple client environments, including troubleshooting, configuration changes, and issue resolution.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, helping them understand system capabilities, navigate business process configurations, and adopt best practices.
- Manage your own workload and client priorities independently, ensuring work is completed within agreed service levels and client expectations are consistently met.
- Investigate and resolve production issues by performing root cause analysis, testing configuration updates, and coordinating with internal teams as needed.
- Support Workday release management by reviewing tenant updates, assessing impact on client configurations, and recommending adjustments.
- Create and maintain documentation, job aids, and reporting to improve client self-sufficiency and operational visibility.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and mentor junior consultants, helping build collective expertise across Workday modules.
- Communicate proactively with clients and stakeholders, providing clear status updates, managing expectations, and surfacing opportunities to improve their Workday experience.
QualificationsRequired- 4+ years of experience supporting Workday in a post-go-live, managed services, or consulting capacity.
- Strong functional knowledge of one or more of the following Workday modules: Core HCM, Payroll, Absence Management, Time Tracking, Benefits, or Core Financials.
- Demonstrated ability to configure and troubleshoot Workday business processes, security, calculated fields, and condition rules.
- Experience working directly with clients to gather requirements, explain system behavior, and recommend solutions.
Preferred- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to work through complex, cross-module issues.
- Proven ability to manage multiple client priorities and deadlines simultaneously, without losing quality or responsiveness - this is not a role where work lands in a queue and waits. It moves, and so do you.
- Active Workday certification(s) in Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, Core HCM, Benefits, or Core Financials.
- Experience with Workday reporting, calculated fields, and dashboards to support operational decision-making.
- Prior experience in a consulting firm, managed services organization, or Workday partner environment.
- Familiarity with Workday release cycles, tenant management, and SaaS operational best practices.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a track record of figuring things out - whether that means digging into documentation, leaning on your team, or testing until you find the answer.
