Business Context
The Java Developer / Data Engineer will join the Compliance, Surveillance & Supervision Product Technology team, which delivers technology solutions supporting the Compliance, Surveillance, and Supervision product group. The team works with both internally developed platforms and vendor solutions, including NICE Actimize, SMART, and Trading Hub. Solutions delivered by the team must satisfy regulatory, compliance, internal audit, technology risk management, and information security obligations applicable to TD Securities.
Position Overview
This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and integration of tools and technologies used across the Compliance, Surveillance, and Supervision domain. The successful candidate will help integrate upstream bank systems with core surveillance platforms and will build robust, scalable, and maintainable data pipelines and analytics engines.
Key Requirements
Business Knowledge
• Familiarity with Capital Markets asset classes and products
• Understanding of compliance concepts, including AML, trade surveillance, and payments surveillance
• Experience designing and building surveillance data models
Technical Knowledge and Hands-on Experience
• At least 3 years of related experience
• Strong Core Java experience, with some Python exposure; proven ability to build, unit test, deliver, and productionize scalable distributed systems
• Solid understanding of data storage, ETL, and modern data engineering patterns
• Experience with big data processing frameworks, including Apache Spark
• Hands-on experience with cloud data lakes, relational databases, and big data platforms such as Databricks and Hadoop
• Ability to work with large data sets in both batch-oriented and near-real-time environments
• Experience integrating enterprise systems with vendor applications
• Understanding of messaging systems and integration patterns, including Solace and Kafka
Nice to Have
• Implementation experience with vendor surveillance platforms, such as NICE Actimize
• Understanding of workflow engines
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and Agile delivery methodology
