Job DescriptionAltaGas - Electrician & Instrumentation, Terminal Operations (REEF)AltaGas is seeking a skilled Electrician & Instrumentation Technician to join our REEF Terminal Operations team. Reporting to the E & I Maintenance Coordinator, this role will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation & control systems and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operations. The Electrician will work closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to support terminal activities.
Your primary focus will be to ensure all work aligns with AltaGas' Core Values: safety, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and learning. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
This position is based full-time in Prince Rupert, BC, and follows a Monday to Thursday schedule, consisting of four 10-hour workdays per week.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Complete and document preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance at the REEF Facility
- Assist with coordinating, planning, and scheduling as required
- Assist with managing a critical parts inventory to minimize downtime of facility equipment
- Troubleshoot, test, maintain, and repair: plant power distribution systems, transformers, rectifiers, switchgear, motor control centers, motors, VFDs, UPS systems, load banks, generators, lighting, logic control components/devices
- Install instrument tubing and maintain instrument systems, including primary field devices, valves, actuators, meters, and analyzers
- Work with automation specialists to troubleshoot and repair control systems
- Construct and maintain gas analyzer sampling systems and instrument tubing assemblies
- Complete calibrations on a variety of flow meter technologies, including Ultrasonic, restriction orifice, and Coriolis meters
- Work with advanced Rosemount process devices, including Pressure, Level, and Temperature, and HART and Modbus communication protocols
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace/shop
- Assist other trades as assigned (e.g., mechanical and warehousing)
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities- Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification
- Preference will be given to dual ticketed E&I certification applicants
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience required (industrial maintenance preferred)
- CSA Z462 Electrical Safety Training is an asset
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record are required
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices
- Experience with 5kV switchgear, VFDs, and motors
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Proficiency with Maximo and Microsoft Office applications
Compensation This position offers a competitive base salary of $135,000 - $146,000/ year, based on experience, education, and skills. AltaGas also provides a competitive relocation allowance and a comprehensive benefits package, including health coverage, retirement plans, and paid time off starting on day one.
