Full Job Description
Alpha Team

The Alpha Team: A Startup Within a Startup

The Alpha Team is Biorce's Tech Special Forces - an incubator operating directly out of the CEO's office, tasked with building the most disruptive, highest-stakes AI products in the clinical trial space.

This is not a team that iterates on existing products. You will be building from zero: defining the strategy, leading a cross-functional squad, and shipping under extreme speed and ambiguity. Every initiative is treated as a new startup venture. Every outcome is yours to own.

The Mission: ORION

As Sr. Product Owner of Team ORION, you will lead one of Biorce's most strategically critical initiatives.

ORION is Biorce's clinical trial modelling and forecasting engine - built to outperform the current generation of trial modelling solutions. It combines AI simulation, probabilistic forecasting, and deep scientific domain knowledge to accelerate and de-risk trial design for pharmaceutical and biotech companies.

You will work directly alongside two Level IV AI Engineers and an embedded Scientist to build a product that redefines what is possible in trial modelling. This is frontier AI applied to one of the hardest problems in drug development - and you will own it end-to-end.

Your direct reports are a Product Designer and an embedded Scientist (who formally reports to the Chief Scientific Officer but is functionally aligned to your team).

How You Will Make an Impact

Product lifecycle ownership:

Strategy & Planning

  • Define the quarterly roadmap and long-term product vision for ORION, anchored in business outcomes - not task lists.
  • Lead discovery for complex clinical trial modelling problems: analyse the competitive landscape, user personas, and technical feasibility. Produce sharp 1-page scoping documents that frame the problem, the causes, and the proposed solution.
  • Work with the embedded Scientist to translate scientific and clinical constraints into product and engineering requirements.

Execution:

  • Direct technological architecture and UX flows in close collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
  • Break the roadmap into atomic tasks and run bi-weekly sprints, managing quality requirements and reviewing deliverables at each stage.
  • Own Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy and coordinate launches - from release strategy to customer communications.

Supervision:

  • Own both technical KPIs (availability, deployment health) and business outcomes (usage, adoption, gross profit over time).
  • Monitor risk indicators and surface issues early - always framing problems as options, trade-offs, and recommended paths forward.

General management:

  • Directly manage the Product Designer. Set priorities, shield the team from noise, and develop them as the product scales.
  • Coordinate with the Scientist on product direction while respecting their formal reporting line to the CSO.
  • Partner with the Engineering Manager and recruitment to hire and maintain a high talent bar across the engineering squad.
  • Act as the primary interface to the CEO's office for ORION - deliver concise, structured updates and protect the team's focus.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years in product management or software engineering, building large-scale distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
  • At least 2 years at a high-growth scale-up - candidates with experience only in traditional corporations, large pharma, or slow-moving enterprise environments will not be considered.
  • 3+ years in a technical leadership role with direct team accountability.
  • Ideal backgrounds: ex-founder (product to at least Seed or Series A), senior software engineer turned PM, established PO/Lead from a scale-up, or system/solution architect.
  • STEM degree preferred.

What makes you the right fit for ORION

  • You have built or led AI-powered products - ideally involving simulation, forecasting, or probabilistic modelling.
  • You are comfortable working with scientists and researchers as product collaborators, not just stakeholders.
  • You can absorb complex domain knowledge fast and turn it into sharp product decisions - clinical trial expertise is not required on day one.
  • You know how to design for technically sophisticated users who will immediately distrust a product that feels imprecise or oversimplified.

Core skills

  • Product Thinking - You can visualise the ideal end state of a product, prioritise ruthlessly under technical constraints, and say no to noise.
  • System Thinking - You design elegant, technically sound solutions for highly complex, AI-driven products.
  • Radical Accountability - Deadlines are commitments. Quality is non-negotiable. You own both.
  • Resilience in Chaos - You remain productive when priorities shift and can discard work without ego when strategy evolves.
  • Leadership Excellence - You proactively raise the bar, develop the people around you, and seek opportunities - not just problems to escalate.
  • Radical Candor - You surface issues early, frame decisions as options and trade-offs, and communicate directly with the CEO's office.

Why Join Us

Direct impact at the top. You sit in the CEO's office. Your work defines Biorce's most strategic bets - not a backlog queue.

A genuinely unsolved problem. ORION is being built to outperform the current generation of clinical trial modelling tools. You will be building something that does not yet exist, on a timeline that demands urgency.

Elite team. You will work with Level IV AI Engineers, an embedded Scientist, and a designer - all selected for the same intensity and ownership mindset that this role demands.

Competitive package. Competitive compensation, meaningful equity upside, and significant growth potential in a rapidly scaling organisation.

Hybrid model. Based in our Austin office, with flexibility built in.
