Job Summary

We are seeking an Akamai Automation Engineer to support, automate, and optimize enterprise Akamai edge platform services that enable secure, scalable, and reliable delivery of internet-facing applications. This role is responsible for managing Akamai platform operations, developing automation solutions, supporting application onboarding, and integrating Akamai services into enterprise DevOps workflows. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Akamai, infrastructure automation, API integrations, and CI/CD pipelines.

Key Responsibilities
• Administer, support, and maintain the Akamai platform to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing application delivery.
• Configure and manage Akamai services, including edge properties, routing, caching, and security controls.
• Support application onboarding onto the Akamai platform while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and best practices.
• Develop and enhance automation solutions using Python, Golang, Terraform, or similar technologies.
• Automate Akamai platform provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
• Integrate Akamai services into CI/CD pipelines using APIs, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar automation tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting application availability, performance, security, and content delivery.
• Collaborate with application, network, security, and DevOps teams to implement scalable edge delivery solutions.
• Develop automation scripts and APIs to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by enhancing operational processes, automation capabilities, and platform reliability.
• Perform platform monitoring, incident response, root cause analysis, and operational support activities.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and automation standards.
• Participate in Agile development activities, change management processes, and knowledge-sharing initiatives through collaborative engineering practices.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3-5+ years of experience in Network Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on experience administering and supporting the Akamai platform.
• Experience working with CDN, edge computing, or application delivery platforms.
• Strong experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Golang, or similar.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
• Experience integrating infrastructure and platform services into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Experience developing and supporting API-based automation solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional engineering teams.
• Experience working in Agile software development or DevOps environments.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Akamai Property Manager, Edge DNS, Web Application Firewall (WAF), DDoS protection, or Bot Management services.
• Knowledge of DNS architecture, certificate lifecycle management, and secure application delivery.
• Experience implementing policy-driven automation, validation frameworks, and operational guardrails.
• Familiarity with enterprise change management and release management processes.
• Experience designing scalable automation solutions for enterprise edge platforms.
• Experience supporting large-scale internet-facing applications in enterprise environments.
