Work environment

Transport Canada has a career opportunity for an experienced and motivated professional to lead our Wabush Airport Team. The establishment is one of the small airports owned by Transport Canada offering local, regional or remote service. The position requires an individual who can provide a high level of leadership and supervision. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

The incumbent will have the following functions:
• Managing the resources for the day-to-day operation, safety and serviceability of all airport facilities.
• Managing the site emergency response, safety programs and Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services
• Implementing and monitoring a security program according to the Canadian Aviation Security Regulations, 2012 PART 6 for Class 3 Aerodromes.
• Managing the maintenance of all airport systems, physical plant and mobile assets in accordance with the principles of the lifecycle management.
• Managing the airport human and financial resources.
• Implementing and monitoring the delivery of the airport Safety Management System (SMS) program.

Intent of the process
The intention of this selection process is to staff the position of Airport Manager at the Wabush Airport, in Labrador.

A pool of qualified candidates may be created to staff positions with similar requirements at the same group and level at Transport Canada.

• Possession of a valid provincial or territorial driver's license.
• Willingness and ability to travel.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime and standby hours, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Airside Vehicle Operations Permit (AVOP)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Radiotelephone Operator's Restricted Certificate (endorsed aeronautical)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX1: Experience in emergency response or planning involving multiple stakeholders.
AEX2: Experience in the management of Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Services (ARFF) in an airport environment.

ASSET KNOWLEDGE:
AK1: Knowledge of acts and regulations relating to Canadian Airports.
AK2: Knowledge of Canada Labour Code Part II.
AK3: Knowledge of airport operations and maintenance activities.
