SUMMARY

The Airport Facilities Services Supervisor performs management duties overseeing, directing, monitoring, and inspecting janitorial, pest control, environmental, and other contracted services at Charlotte Douglas International Airport’s terminal and approximately 80 additional airport facilities. Ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for tenants, employees, and the traveling public within a 24/7/365 operation. Responsible for assisting in the management of multiple contracts in varying areas of responsibility including quality standards, department policies and procedures and service levels. Assists with maintaining mechanical operation of compacting trashcans and dumpsters to include general troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and minor parts diagnosis and replacement. Is responsive to and successfully maintains working relationships with tenants, contractors, co-workers and the public. Exercise of initiative is expected, and extensive public contact is involved.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

• Manages work directing, monitoring and inspecting janitorial services, pest control services and maintenance projects for Airport terminal and other Airport buildings.
• Monitors ancillary contracts including those for solid waste removal, pressure washing, window cleaning, contractor clean-up, and interior landscaping.
• Assist with the operation of compacting trashcans and dumpsters to minimize downtimes. Services can include items such as troubleshooting, diagnosing issues, repairs, and replacements.
• Respond to needs of customers and requests for service (tenants, the public and co-workers).
• Coordinate the set-up of meeting rooms, the moving of furniture and special events.
• Coordinate repairs with Building Maintenance.
• Assists with snow operations within the terminal as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

Requires high school degree or equivalent with 3 years relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Preference for a higher degree of learning – Associate’s or Bachelor’s – with 3-5 plus years of relevant experience.

• Experience with environmental regulatory compliance preferred.

• Membership with the International Executive Housekeepers Association, and C.E.H., R.E.H. or ISSA CIMS GB Expert preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Considerable knowledge of the work performed by workers supervised.

• Considerable knowledge of occupational hazards, environmental regulations, safety precautions or trade and the ability to enforce adequate safety precautions against such hazards.

• Considerable knowledge of and skill in the use of the standard methods, materials, tools, and equipment related to the assigned areas of work or specialty.
• Excellent organizational and reasoning skills required, as well as the ability to follow directions, communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, complete projects accurately and on schedule, and maintain and prepare records and reports.
• Ability to complete minor mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to supervise, assign, and inspect work of a crew of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled subordinates.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, tenants, and the public.
  

Physical & Sensory Requirements:

Spends 50% of the time walking, 15% standing and remaining time sitting, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, driving, etc. Most of the work is inside. Exposure to chemicals, fumes, solvents, dusty and slippery, uneven surfaces. Sensory requirements include touch, hearing, vision (distance, near, peripheral, depth), and speech.

Additional Information:

• Position works 3rd shift - standard shift hours apply and subject to emergency and routine calls back to work.

• Successful candidate must hold a driver’s license with no more than 6 points and the ability to obtain and maintain a City driving permit.

• Certain criminal convictions will disqualify individuals from unescorted access privileges and therefore exclude from employment.
