Full Job Description
As an Air Permitting and Compliance Engineer you will play a vital role in ensuring regulatory compliance and the maintenance of high environmental standards. This junior - mid level position is focused on air quality compliance to support upstream oil and gas operations, with primary emphasis on Denver Julesburg (DJ) Basin. This position reports to the Manager, Air and serves as a technical subject matter expert for compliance strategy, reporting, and agency engagement. The role requires a high level of regulatory knowledge, independent judgment, and the ability to partner effectively with operations, engineering, and leadership.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design and assist with development of internal data management systems and compliance programs as needed. Types of programs may include Federal and/or State air, water, waste, and remediation.
  • Design and assist with preparation, submittal, and maintenance of environmental reports to regulatory agencies and management.
  • Design and assist with development and presentation of environmental compliance and pollution prevention training programs including working with operations to develop best management practices necessary for regulatory compliance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest air quality regulations and industry best practices. Apply your knowledge to ensure our organization remains compliant with all relevant environmental laws and permits.
  • Communicate new regulations and compliance impacts to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evaluate and assist in the seamless integration of environmental data into other data management systems. Foster data consistency and accessibility across the organization.
  • Assist in conducting internal environmental audits and inspections to identify potential compliance issues, and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain understanding of Local, State and Federal Air Quality or regulations, as necessary.
  • Foster a culture of growth by mentoring and nurturing the professional development of team members as needed, empowering them to excel in their roles and contribute effectively to our mission.
  • Cultivate and sustain robust, collaborative relationships with all company departments, promoting seamless communication and alignment of goals for enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Actively participate in seminars and relevant training sessions to remain up to date with evolving Federal, State, and local environmental and safety requirements, ensuring that our organization remains at the forefront of compliance and safety standards.

  • Proficiency in emissions modeling software and data management tools.
  • Ability to work with technical data, calculations, and regulatory documentation in a structured, auditable manner.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemical engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility a plus.
  • Minimum of 6 years of oil and gas experience plus 3 years of air permitting, compliance, and data management within the oil and gas industry.
