Full Job Description
We9re hiring an AI-first writer to write and maintain documentation for the academy. You9ll write with AI every day: drafting, prompting, editing, and rewriting until the work is genuinely good. This is an in-person role in Austin, TX.

What You9ll Do
  • Documentation: Write, edit, and maintain documentation across the academy so people can find what they need and trust what they read.
  • AI Drafting: Use AI tools daily to produce first drafts fast, then rewrite until the result reads like a person wrote it.
  • Prompt Engineering: Build, test, and refine prompts that get quality output on the first pass, and document the ones that work so others can reuse them.
  • Editing: Cut the filler, hedging, and generic phrasing that models default to, and rewrite until every doc is clear and correct.
  • House Style: Keep voice, tone, and terminology consistent across everything we publish, whether the first draft came from you or a model.
  • Fact-Checking: Verify names, numbers, and claims before anything ships, and treat model output as a draft, not a source.
  • AI Workflows: Build repeatable writing workflows (templates, prompt libraries, review steps) that make everyone who writes here faster.

Requirements
  • Writing: You write clear, tight prose on your own, no model required, and you can show finished work that proves it.
  • AI Fluency: You write with tools like ChatGPT and Claude every day and know their strengths, quirks, and failure modes.
  • Editorial Judgment: You can tell good writing from AI slop in one read, and you know whether the fix is a better prompt or a hands-on rewrite.
  • Prompt Engineering: You know how to use context, examples, and constraints to move a model from a mediocre draft to a usable one.
  • Startup Culture: You9re ready and willing to work in a startup culture, and you don9t shy away from long hours, evenings, and weekends. Overtime paid for any hours worked over 40.
  • Location: You9re based in Austin, TX and can work from the office in person.
  • Work Authorization: You9re authorized to work in the United States.

Bonus Points

  • Education or Youth Sports Experience: You9ve written for schools, families, or sports programs and know how to speak to those audiences.
  • Knowledge Management: You9ve built or maintained a wiki, help center, or internal knowledge base.
  • Automation: You9ve built integrations or simple automations (scripts, Zapier, model APIs) that speed up writing work.
  • Style Guides: You9ve written or maintained a style guide for a team or publication.

Why Join Us?

Most writing jobs treat AI as a threat. Here it9s the core of the work. You9ll use these tools all day on real documents that ship, which means you9ll learn more about AI in this role than in any other position. You9ll set the standard for how the academy writes and have the autonomy to build the prompts, workflows, and style rules behind it. The role pays $40 an hour, with overtime paid for any hours worked over 40.
