Full Job Description
We are seeking an AI and Product Manager to drive both the development of next-generation AI products and the continued evolution of our existing platform. This role sits at the nexus of innovation and execution, ideal for a strategic leader who can set bold product visions while ensuring excellence in day-to-day delivery. This role will also champion the use of AI tools internally, enhancing speed, quality, and efficiency across the product development process. You'll be both a creator of AI solutions and a user of AI to optimize how we build them. This position can be based out of our HQ in Portland, OR, or remote from anywhere in the U.S.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

Technical Vision & Strategy:
    • Define and execute the product roadmap for AI-driven solutions, ensuring alignment with our company priorities and customer needs.
    • Lead discovery, development, and iteration of AI features from MVP to market-ready.
    • Work closely with data science, user research and engineering teams to explore, validate, and deploy AI capabilities.

Core Platform Stewardship:
    • Own and advance initiatives within the core platform that enhance stability, performance, user experience and customer satisfaction.
    • Prioritize work across the innovation and platform spectrum, ensuring clear decision-making and strategic alignment.

AI-Enhanced Product Operations:
    • Use AI tools to improve speed and effectiveness in key product management workflows, including proof of concepting and customer analysis.
    • Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies to identify opportunities to streamline collaboration, reduce manual effort, and drive smarter decisions.

Customer & Market Insight:
    • Conduct user interviews, research, and feedback analysis to guide product direction.
    • Monitor industry and competitor trends to position products for success.
    • Represent the voice of the customer across both new initiatives and legacy solutions.

Innovation Culture & Continuous Improvement:
    • Champion a culture of curiosity, experimentation, operational excellence and continuous learning within the product teams.
    • Mentor colleagues on best practices in AI development and product innovation, fostering an environment of creativity and technical rigor.

Qualifications:
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Minimum 2 years in AI product management, ideally within innovation labs or startup settings.
    • Demonstrated ability to translate AI concepts into practical product requirements and business solutions.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of LLMs, embeddings, RAG pipelines, prompt engineering, and vector databases. Able to translate AI capabilities into user-facing features.
    • Hands-on experience with tools like OpenAI Playground, LangChain, and Hugging Face to prototype and validate AI-driven features. Familiar with orchestration frameworks and agent-based systems.
    • Comfortable working with REST APIs, JSON, and basic data querying. Understands how to prepare and evaluate data for AI product use cases.
    • Knowledge of AI governance standards and experience incorporating model risk, fairness, and explainability into product decisions is a plus.
    • Agile Methodologies & Tools: Experience with agile frameworks and project management tools like JIRA
  • Communication & Leadership:
    • Proven track record of effectively communicating technical ideas to diverse audiences, including executives and engineering teams.
    • Strong leadership skills with a history of fostering cross-functional collaboration and driving technical projects from ideation to execution.
  • Innovative Problem Solving:
    • Expertise in creative, technical problem solving, with an understanding of AI innovation lifecycles and agile methodologies.
    • Experience in developing and managing products through all stages of the technical innovation lifecycle.
