Role Description:
• Full Time / Monday-Friday
• Hours: 8:00 A.M-4:00 P.M
• 10 month program with a 30 day session
• Interviews families; conducts/reviews social case histories.
• Provides direct support service to individual students, small groups and classrooms; provides counseling services as mandated.
• Treats psychological disorders and adaptive delays to effect improvement and provides counseling to students and/or families.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary and child/student study teams in developing treatment programs for students.
• Provides in-service training and workshops for staff and for families.
• Provides counseling for families.
• Collaborates in the integration of transition activities and development of transition goals.
• Refer individuals/families to appropriate resources for needed services and post-secondary options
• Performs all duties necessary for compliance and relevant regulations governing service provision, including record-keeping.
• Member of various department wide education and / or agency committees.
• Provides services to students in a legal and ethical manner.
Annual Salary: $79,760-$81,946
Salaries commensurate with years of experience.
Qualifications
• NYS Certification Pupil Personnel Services -Guidance Counselor
• Ability to work effectively with staff and students with developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities and appropriate therapeutic intervention techniques.
• Ability to communicate and develop cooperative working relationships with staff, families and other agencies.
• Ability to establish and maintain statistical and data records pertaining to stated responsibilities
