Full Job Description
PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Sylmar, CA! As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will support transformational projects in transparency assembly. This role combines Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering principles to improve processes, resolve manufacturing issues and grow Sylmar's commercial transparencies program.

This is an onsite position in Sylmar reporting to the Production Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Optimize and grow manufacturing processes and transition to a single piece flow pull system for the site commercial final assembly area.
  • Lead corrective action events and provide technical oversite for manufacturing processes.
  • Redefine routings, labor standards, work instructions, and tooling requirements.
  • Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials in manufacturing process.
  • Apply Lean tools (e.g., value stream mapping, time studies) to improve throughput and efficiency.
  • Collaborate to resolve production issues and lead strategic improvements.
  • Lead engineering and ergonomic projects to enhance employee safety and comfort.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant manufacturing or process engineering experience.
  • The ability to create clear work instructions for non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; experience with Excel, Power BI, Minitab, or databases.
  • Comfortable working both in office and on the production floor.

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 7% of base salary.
