Position SummaryThe Aerospace Electronics Assembly Technician assembles, inspects, and tests high-reliability electronic and electro-mechanical hardware for advanced space and defense systems. Working from engineering documentation and technical standards, this role performs precision assembly tasks including cable and harness fabrication, soldering, and related production activities while ensuring compliance with quality and workmanship requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and committed to producing mission-critical hardware in a collaborative manufacturing environment.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assemble electro-mechanical product in accordance with engineering instructions, technical manuals, and training.
- Follow written instructions to execute tasking in a standard and repeatable manner.
- Identifies problems and issues in straightforward situations. Uses judgement to resolve certain issues.
- Perform wiring harness and cable assembly, including continuity checks on the final assemblies.
- Apply technical standards, such as J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620, to work performed ensuring manufactured hardware complies.
- Ability to use small hand tools, calibrated equipment, soldering/desoldering equipment, and/or meters.
- Consistently complete records of work completed in line with good documentation practices.
- Requires strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Follows documented processes and procedures for proper handling of all material(s).
- Candidate must have a willingness to perform other tasks as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience or 2 yrs post-Secondary /Associates Degree with 0 -2 yrs prior related experience
- Basic ability in the utilization of computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with electronics or cable assemblies
- Experience with circuit board level soldering and desoldering
- Experience with masking, conformal coating, connector potting, components taking, or component bonding
Working Conditions / Requirements- ESD production environment. Some exposure to machine noise; hearing protection may be required.
- Must have availability to work 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts as scheduled.
- Overtime and weekends may be requested to fulfill needs.
- Primarily located in Chantilly with flexibility to occasionally work in Fairfax.
- Occasionally lifting up 25 lbs. exertion. Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
- Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents, products, or operate machinery. Additionally, must be able to pass visual requirements per J-STD-001, including both near vision and color vision testing.
- Repetitive Motion: Constantly operates test equipment, computers and other office productivity machinery.
Pay InformationFull-Time Hourly Pay Range: $28.00 - $53.00
