Salary Details

The salary range for this position is CAD $35.37/Hr. - CAD $50.85/Hr.

Job Summary

As a Advisor, Protection Services with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Work jointly with the other departmental managers and leaders, provide leadership and direction to a team of security officers across Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH).
  • Act as the "Duty Officer" responsible for all aspects of planning, organizing, and directing security operations, which may include during daily Protection Service-related events.
  • Liaise with Protection Services Managers, Coordinators, frontline Relational Security staff, contracted security services including mobile and the Security Operations Center.
  • Have oversight of all security operations at Vancouver Coastal Health, including oversight of the Relational Security Officers and Relational Security Supervisors, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborate with the Protection Services Leadership team to provide leadership and direction to frontline security operations and act as a resource to key site contacts for all matters related to the Protection Services program. The Advisor may be assigned to a specific site and/or travel to sites within VCH to provide coverage to the assigned portfolio.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice/law enforcement, business administration, related social sciences discipline with specialized training in security, fire safety, emergency management, occupational safety, and risk management plus three (3) to five (5) years' progressive experience in a large multi-union organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Eligible to hold OFA2 and AST certificates and hold a valid security license.
  • Valid BC driver's licence, with a clean driving record as this position may include use of a Vancouver Coastal Health owned vehicle to travel within the VCH geographic area.

  • Uses strong written communication skills in the development of business cases and marketing and promotional materials.
  • Uses creativity and innovation to develop new programs and initiatives that meet and/or exceed service level agreements in the creation of healthy healthcare workplaces for all organizations under the Integrated HR Service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and related software applications.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
