Job Overview
The PDC Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for providing engineering expertise to the Parts Distribution Centers (PDC) by improving end-to-end material 2ow, designing systematic layouts, optimizing space utilization and leading continuous improvement initiatives. This role provides analysis to leadership to ensure that operational processes are ecient, cost- eective, and of highest quality to meet customer requirements and strategic objectives. The location of this position resides at the Robbinsville, New Jersey Parts Distribution Center (PDC), but reports into MBUSA Corporate Oce in Sandy Springs, GA. This structure requires continuous alignment to all Home Oce and PDC expectations around culture, communication and business topics
Responsibilities
- Leads cross-functional teams tasked with identifying and eliminating ineciencies within layout, process, and material 2ow to ensure the most cost-eective and quality design.
- Designs storage locations to maximize the PDC's available cubic space to reduce labor and material handling costs while utilizing optimal WMS congurations.
- Project manager for all Lean Management initiatives across Home Oce and PDC Network teams including training, sponsoring, facilitating and transitioning of knowledge for others to use and apply to improve end-to-end supply chain ineciencies.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives by identifying and resolving non-compliant processes within PDC.
- Collaborates with international and domestic leadership to support ad-hoc process improvement and standardization opportunities that ensure the most eective and ecient processes.
- Represents the PDC as a liaison for understanding unique site infrastructure, storage system congurations, and planning for all business unit and IT integration projects.
- Develops recommendations for PDC productivity targets by analyzing labor code data and presenting ndings to PDC leadership for approval.
- Manages large-scale strategic initiatives across all project planning phases including initiation, planning, execution, and closure that add value to internal and external customers.
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives to define the future-state systems landscape and optimization of the physical footprint of the North American logistics network.
- Calculates cycle time using work measurement techniques, determines standard work, and communicates the results to leadership to enhance daily labor planning tools.
- Evaluates alternative and emerging warehouse technologies and their potential benets to safety, quality and productivity to the North American PDC Network.
- Lead efforts to standardize processes, procedures, and best practices to ensure consistency in operations, documentation, and reporting across the PDC network.
- Consistently engage and communicate with PDC leadership to ensure excellent collaboration through common understanding of the operation that enables continuous improvement
Qualifikationen Qualifications
Must have ability to successfully build relationships, communicate across organizational structure and effectively influence others
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in:
- Industrial and Systems Engineering
Certications (Preferred):
- Lean or Six Sigma Black Belt (Lean preferred)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
Must have at least 5-7 years of demonstrated experience in the following:
- AutoCAD/Solidworks, Microsoft Oce products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and MS Project)
- Understanding of warehouse processes (receiving through shipping), e
xternal systems that may interface with the WMS, p
eripheral interface devices (RF, printers, etc.)
