Your Role: Engineering Consultant - Mechanical/HVACAs the
Engineering Consultant - Mechanical/HVAC, you will be part of the Engineering team supporting the design, reliability, and continuous improvement of facility utilities and HVAC systems at the Fort Dodge manufacturing site. In this role, you will lead and support capital projects, provide subject matter expertise in HVAC and mechanical systems, and ensure facility utilities remain compliant with cGMP, regulatory, and Elanco engineering standards.
Your Responsibilities:- Lead and support capital projects involving HVAC, mechanical utilities, piping systems, and clean room design from planning through commissioning and startup.
- Author and review engineering documentation including User Requirements Specifications (URS), Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS), feasibility studies, drawings, specifications, and qualification documents.
- Oversee project execution by reviewing contractor submittals, monitoring installation quality, managing project schedules and budgets, and ensuring right-first-time project delivery.
- Maintain HVAC systems in a validated cGxP state by supporting compliance with regulatory requirements, Elanco engineering standards, and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement and utility optimization initiatives while providing technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical and HVAC systems.
What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications):- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with 2 years of relevant experience, OR an associate's degree in a related field with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience: Experience supporting mechanical, HVAC, facility utilities, capital projects, or engineering systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Skills: Experience with HVAC/mechanical systems and project engineering along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering-related software or control systems.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other cGMP-regulated manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of HVAC design, clean room systems, HEPA filtration, and mechanical utility standards.
- Experience with commissioning, qualification, and validation of mechanical and HVAC equipment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and project management skills with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
