Full Job Description
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Palliative Care & Rehabilitation Medicine team. The Advanced Practice Provider plays a critical role in delivering patient-centered care across the continuum, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to achieve high-quality outcomes. The Advanced Practice Provider will engage in clinical evaluations, treatment planning, and coordination of care to support patients and families throughout their care journey.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and Neurology is highly preferred, as these patient populations align closely with the practice setting. Additional experience in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and/or Hospitalist medicine would be a strong asset, particularly for managing medically complex patients. Must be Adaptable, collaborative, and comfortable working within a multidisciplinary care environment.

Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Care Planning
• Conduct comprehensive symptom assessments using physical exam skills and assessment tools
• Participate in developing treatment plans in collaboration with team physicians
• Collect and document patient data accurately within the medical record

Care Coordination & Continuum Management
• Utilize organizational skills to ensure continuity of care across the continuum
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams through planning, education, and coordination of services

Patient, Family & Clinician Education
• Provide education and support to patients and families with emphasis on comfort and quality of life
• Deliver education to clinicians to support best practices in palliative and rehabilitative care

Communication & Liaison Activities
• Serve as a liaison for the department between patients and members of the healthcare team
• Facilitate effective communication across disciplines to support coordinated care delivery

Additional Duties
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:
Required:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
Master's Degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice. May be waived for applicants who obtained recognition as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse from the Texas State Board of Nursing prior to 1/1/2003.
Graduate education and related Texas Board of Nursing authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Physician Assistant
Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduated from a PA program prior to 2013.

EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: At least 1 year of Oncology experience as an Advanced Practice Provider.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION:
Required: Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
All of the following:
Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP). Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population.
Basic Life Support (BLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) If working in the following departments: Pediatric - Patient Care (113100).
MAY BE REQUIRED: Authorization for limited prescriptive authority by the Texas Board of Nursing.
Physician Assistant
All of the following:
PA certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
Licensed by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners.
MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
Must meet the American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) , ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) if working in one of following department: Pediatrics - Patient Care (113100).
