OverviewThe APP is a nurse practitioner or certified physician assistant who will provide care for patients receiving immunotherapy and cellular therapies as well as standard admissions for chemotherapy or toxicities of treatment/underlying disease. The APP is responsible for the primary care of the patient as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team led by an attending physician. Responsibilities include obtain medical history, perform physical examinations, review and order diagnostic studies, radiographs and prescribe treatments.
Responsibilities- Works as part on an interdisciplinary team on the inpatient wards at UWMC working 12 hour rotating shifts to cover 7 days per week.
- Performs complex and problem-focused H & P's; rounds daily with team and attending physician.
- Evaluates and manages all aspects of care for medical oncology and hematology inpatients.
- Performs procedures (bone marrow, LP, etc.) according to licensure, credentialing, and scope of practice
- Collaborates and consults with other disciplines and services
- Communicates changes and transitions from inpatient to outpatient in a seamless fashion and communicates changes in patient's health status or urgent patient issues to the patient's primary oncology team.
- Participates in patient rounds, conferences and committees
- Actively participates in clinical aspects of research trials
- Documents patient care data in accordance with the FHCC and UWP policies
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsRequired:- Strong team player with a can-do attitude is a must! Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Washington state & DEA licensure required.
- ACLS required within 6 months of start date.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Preferred:- One year experience as an ARNP or PA-C; Hematology, Oncology, or Inpatient experience strongly preferred.
The annual base salary range for this position is from $131,000 to $200,678, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
