Advanced Practice Provider-I Infectious Disease

Summa Health| Akron City Main Campus- Akron, OH

Position Highlights:

  • Full-time (1.0 FTE), benefits eligible
  • Monday through Friday schedule with no holidays or after-hours call. Weekend coverage is limited to one rotation every four weeks and is followed by two weekdays off.
  • Open to both experienced providers and highly motivated new graduates interested in Infectious Disease. Prior specialty experience is preferred but not required for candidates with strong clinical training and a demonstrated interest in the field.
  • Primarily inpatient-focused with some outpatient responsibilities, including rounding, consultations, follow-up care, and occasional coverage at affiliated LTAC and rehabilitation facilities.
  • Join a well-established Infectious Disease team of experienced physicians and APPs that values collaboration, clinical excellence, and professional development.


Summary:

Develops and advances the quality of advanced practice through specialized direct patient care, leadership, consultation, education and research. Works to improve processes of care for patients. Ensures quality of patient care by utilizing established standards of care for specified department and coordination of services with physicians, care managers, social workers, patient care coordinators, therapists and other community agencies as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

Formal Education Required:

-Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program, MPAS preferred, and have passed the national certification examination administered by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants or Masters Degree in Nursing with completion of Advanced Practice program in area of expertise and National certification as CNP, CNM, or CNS.

Experience & Training Required:
-Current license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant in the state of Ohio.
-Minimum one year experience as advanced practice provider preferred
-BLS certification.

Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:

-Excellent skills in communication, organizing, self-motivation, accuracy, and time management
-Ability to read and interpret medical documents, which are commonly found in hospital, clinic or physician office environment.
-Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
-Ability to provide necessary care of adult patients as required by position and requested by institution.
-Ability to work independently, to prioritize work and solve problems.
-Demonstrates competency in Microsoft office and all computer programs utilized by the Practice.
-Ability to manage multiple projects.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
-Maintains affiliated hospital privileges as an Allied Health Professional if practicing in hospital setting.
-Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of professionals.
-Demonstrates flexibility to meet the ever changing needs of patients and health care team members.
-Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.

Level of Physical Demands:
-Heavy: Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25-50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10-20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
-Requires exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other potentially hazardous conditions common to a clinical environment, such as risk of falls, strains, etc.
-Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination

$52.93/hr - $70.20/hr
The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members when determining offers.
