Dermatology Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant (NP/PA)

Dermatology Associates of Virginia are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our independent physician-owned dermatology group serving the Greater Richmond-Petersburg area.

We are seeking a patient-focused physician assistant or nurse practitioner to perform in-person dermatology assessments and procedures. You will be supervised by board-certified dermatologists and practice with a very experienced clinic team. Our practice is busy and has a fantastic opportunity for growth.

This is an opportunity to step into a high-demand, well-supported environment with immediate volume, strong operational infrastructure, and no private equity influence.

What You will Do
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of dermatologic conditions
  • Perform procedures including biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, etc.
  • Manage both medical and surgical dermatology patients

Who We Are Looking For
  • Licensed NP or PA in the State of Virginia (other educational requirements required)
  • Minimum 2 years of dermatology experience as a practicing provider required
  • Comfortable managing medical dermatology independently
  • Procedural experience (biopsies, cryotherapy, excisions preferred)
  • Efficient, patient-focused, and collaborative

Location

Positions available within our Mechanicsville, Virginia area

Responsibilities:
  • Ability to work independently, but knows when to consult a supervising physician
  • Practices within the scope designated by the physician leadership team
  • Comfortable seeing 140 patients per week
  • Provides necessary directions to clinic staff members.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Master's Degree from an accredited NP / PA Program
  • NP / PA Certification
  • Current NP / PA license for Virginia
  • 2+ years of experience as a medical dermatological Advance Practice Provider (APP)


Job Types: Full- time

Pay: $120,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year

Essential Functions
  • Workload includes general medical dermatology as well as surgical dermatology
  • Ability to build patient relationships by appropriately matching patient needs to the numerous services and products we provide
  • Use appropriate techniques to diagnose and treat skin ailments.
  • Works with physicians and medical assistants to prescribe and administer treatments
  • Monitor the effectiveness of skin treatments and make necessary improvements or changes.
  • Educate patients on ways to achieve healthy, attractive skin.
  • Perform surgical procedures and biopsies to identify diseases and determine appropriate therapies.
  • Document and update patient records
  • Refer patients to specialists as needed
  • Work autonomously
  • Manage patient questions and concerns professionally and courteously
  • Regularly attend, participate in and support training and staff meetings for the practice

Supervisory Responsibility
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment
This job operates in a clinical setting of a medical practice with routine exposure to those who may have contagious illnesses. This role routinely requires walking to and from the patient sitting area to exam rooms and frequent sitting and standing while documenting in patient's charts. It also utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. There is frequent patient contact.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • This is a largely non-sedentary role with frequent standing and walking. This would require the ability to walk frequently on a level surface for periods of time including to and from the patient waiting area and patient exam rooms.
  • This position may require reaching above shoulder height or below the waist or lifting as required to file documents and retrieve medical supplies throughout the workday.
  • Proper lifting techniques are required up to 10 pounds.
  • Perform tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, use of a computer and using, storing, and cleansing medical instruments.
  • Have sufficient ability to communicate, through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise, to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.

Travel

Travel between DAV facilities for corporate meetings and training courses, and travel throughout the country to various conferences that provide Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

Must be authorized to work in the United States of America. Must acknowledge and agree to the Practice's policies including the drug and alcohol policies.
