Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Advanced Practice Nurse for the University Behavioral Health Care.

The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse position is to serve as an expert in the advanced nursing care. The APN functions collaboratively with physician of protocol for prescriptive practice and works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services. The APN demonstrates competency according to the American Nurses Association Advanced Practice Standards and credentialing body.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the standards of practice for specialty credentialling certification through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners or American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Follows protocols for prescriptive practice.
  • Delivers high quality care as rated by supervisor, collaborating physician and individuals served feedback.
  • Consults with physicians, psychiatrist, and other clinical staff members as necessary.
  • Coordinates care with Primary Care Provider.
  • Provides advanced practice nursing care to individuals served presenting with acute problems, managing therapeutic regimes according to protocols.
  • Assists in assuring individuals served have access to appropriate medication.
