Position Summary (Why this role matters): This role is responsible for developing and optimizing transducers, their internal parts, and production procedures for manufacturing. They will play an active role in converting laboratory prototypes into cost-effective, scalable and marketable products. This will include involvement with mechanical and electrical design, fabrication, electrical soldering, in-process testing and final testing (development and execution), and troubleshooting of the ultrasound transducer and transducer subcomponents. The key responsibilities of the associate engineer range from fabrication and research support and feasibility analysis to the hand off to commercialization Development and Advanced Manufacturing teams while closely adhering to HistoSonics' quality system and design controls.
Key Responsibilities (What you'll do): - Electrical and mechanical fabrication of transducer prototypes used to develop new indications for Histosonics.
- Documenting all prototype builds in lab notebooks or on quality system approved forms
- Building relationships with new and existing suppliers to source prototyping parts that can be moved to manufacturing in the future.
- Benchtop testing for transducer prototype safety and function.
- Troubleshooting transducer failures occurring during fabrication and testing.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining transducer fabrication lab and equipment.
- Work closely with the research team and manufacturing team to develop products that are manufacturable and answer clinical needs.
Qualifications and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 2+ years of Engineering experience in medical devices or other regulated industry.
- Experience soldering electronics.
- Experience with electrical and/or mechanical prototyping, troubleshooting, and testing strongly preferred.
- Experience with piezo electric ultrasound transducer manufacturing or testing is a plus.
- Experience with CAD preferably Solidworks, including designing and modifying existing parts, generating drawings, making part analysis and measurements is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to engineering and design decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
