This role focuses on managing the manufacturing readiness process with external partners-defining production requirements, validating process capability, and ensuring successful transition from prototype to full production. The engineer will collaborate closely with CM engineering teams to develop and implement robust manufacturing processes, oversee equipment and tooling readiness, and drive issue resolution during pilot and early builds. Strong industrial engineering experience is required to assess process efficiency, optimize workflow in partnership with CMs, and ensure alignment with quality, cost, and schedule objectives. This position plays a key role in bridging design and manufacturing functions to ensure new products are effectively industrialized and launched through global contract manufacturing partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for introduction, development, and establishment of new contract manufacturing locations and new production capability.
  • Strategically execute NPI (new product introduction) tasks related to the design and launch of new manufacturing production capabilities.
  • Take ownership of the relationship and direction with CMs, providing necessary inputs and monitoring/driving progress to achieve project deliverable timelines.
  • Coordinate prototype manufacturing activities including prototyping, purchasing/logistics, schedule, budget, etc.
  • Create and maintain AME deliverables related to new production such as PFD, PFMEA, QCP, manufacturing BOMs, etc.
  • Participate in design reviews and DFA/DFM reviews to influence design regarding manufacturability.
  • Serve as liaison between contract manufacturer (CM), engineering, and procurement when developing component packaging requirements.
  • Develop and track manufacturing KPIs in support of company goals/initiatives.
  • Support company initiatives including, but not limited to, cost reduction and quality targets.
  • Travel expectation 25-90% depending on stage of production maturity; to include possible international travel.
  • Other tasks as necessary at the discretion of AME Project Manager or AME Management

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role.
  • Experience driving automation solutions for metal fabrication and component integration solutions.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with high volume, low-mix production.
  • Experience in a manufacturing NPI role preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing metrics such as OEE and yield and experience establishing and tracking KPIs.
  • Knowledge of quality methods and requirements including APQP or stage gate release processes, ISO9001, TS16949, and global OEM development systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent education.
  • Ability to travel to CM locations with little advanced notice.
